Title: First FTF
Post by: Dberg on July 22, 2010, 08:31:26 AM
I decided to shoot one more time before I cleaned this pup and shot two clips of winchester white box and then wanted to check out the winchester ranger 147gr.  No problems at all.  I ran one more clip of Critical Defense and had one FTF.  Had to squeeze 3 times before it decided to check out the paper down range.  That did it for me.  No more CD.  Even though one FTF I can't rely on it.  So I guess Hornady has not fixed the primer problem.  I do like the ballistic testing on Rangers though.  They are suppose to be similar to the black talon minus the Teflon coating.

Dberg.  Good decision to eliminate CD from your ammo.

Although I never had a problem I stopped carrying CDs in my pup and in my P-380, i'm going to try the 9mm in my PM9 and see how they go, but will probably carry it with the 147gr. Ranger ammo.

John.  I've read somewhere, that the CD does fine in the PM9.

When I get sone time and it's not 98 degrees I'll take the PM9 out and shoot, no fun when it's this hot. ;D

John.  You are exactly right.  You don't want a heat stroke.

Dberg, would you check the lot #'s of the CDs that you are  having problems with, lot #30911459 is the batch that most of us had trouble with. My solution, if you want to call it that, is to not buy any more CD ammo. As I said in an earlier post, there is too much good ammo out there now. With STs and GDs plentiful again I will stick with what works.  Good luck, Gene

Amen to that one, Gene; they do have pretty ads, though.

Gene.  We do agree.  Silvertips work.

I had 4 boxes of lot # 3100720.  I fed it 50 rounds the other day with no problem.  But, since I had 1 FTF I won't use it in my P9S.  I may put it in my xdm 3.8 since it likes to eat anything though.

I do think my favorites for the P9S are the GD and the Rangers.

EDIT

Nevermind, I googled it and found out.

And we know Corey doesn't need to Google R9s, actually people can Callahan the R9s and get the most complete info on the pups. :o

Anybody have a link to CD failures in a Kahr 380?

I'm currently carrying them in my Kahr 380.

thanks,

They must be working well for you. I haven't seen any Kahr specific issues with CD.
