The mailperson was Santa Claus today. Just received the Rohrbaugh Blue CF grips; excellent condition. Thanks to a very nice Forum member.
Thanks again, Robert! :)
-
What, no pics?
No pics it didn't happen. ;D

Just got them. Still opening Santa's presents. Got the new old stock magazine for the Seecamp .25, haven't even had time to open that yet; and expecting the Seecamp .380 back from the factory any minute now;
Still admiring the Blue grips! First things first! :D
-

What do you plan to do with them, if anything?
-
They probably will go on the NIB R9s that I plan to have Robared or chromed; seems like the thing to do!
-
That sounds very respectable and civilized.
-
Then, another thought is put them on an early Rohrbaugh that doesn't have the blue grips.
-
It's good to see persistence rewarded. Congratulations, KJ.
-
Thanks, Richard. Now for the early, early R9. It too, will come along, one day.
-
Congrats KJ!
They look great, and willl look even better on that pup you choose.
-
kj, Congratulations and Welcome to the CF grip club.
John

The next adventure now begins! ;D
So you now have a plan for these grips? Do tell! :)
-
No, not really a plan. Just a more detailed search for an early Rohrbaugh, to put 'em on. ;D
-
How "EARLY" of a pup do you require?
They show up a couple times a year on Gunbroker missing the orginal grips.
-
An early, early, R9 would have the blue grips so I'll check out GunBroker real close and watch the Forum here for hints of someone having one and just inquire, like I did for the grips.
I would like to stay with what one supposed to have rather, I think, than put them on a newer model one; however, that could change. Just pondering ideas for now.

Just remembered your post, jhs, it did happen! ;D

Once again, glad you met this quest!! 8)
Anyone notice in the pics on the inside cutout of the grip, upper right side, the 1/4-1/2 inch difference in the cutout?
Not a great explanation, but ya'll with the blue grips, check and compare to another set of pup grips..
It is not there on later grips..
Just a thing noticed..
-
That takes a fine eye; you must have superimposed these blue grips on others to have seen that; or else you should have been a diamond cutter.
-
So Brenden, what does that mean? I have only this set so don't have anything else to compare them to.
Oh! Thanks!
-
Most of the early ones were like that. I took a blue set of a gun today and it was just like yours.
-
Great. Thanks. I thought maybe I had a lemon set, after Brenden's comments.
-
Maybe a slight change in the internal dimensions..

I never said anything about them being "bad"!!!
I just was pointing out the difference between the early grips and the later ones!!
This is what some of us "look for" when we look at the "little things"..
Did not mean to freak you out-sorry..
-
No problem. All is well. :)
-
I'm new Forum member and am curious about the BLUE CF grips. Who makes 'em and how much; also, speaking of grips - does any one make aftermarket grips for the R9s.
Thanks for any reply!
John
-
John. Welcome to the Forum. The Blue CF grips came out on the first R9's produced with no R prefix in the serial no., about 300, and a few with the early R prefix; very rare and sell for $300 a pr. if someone will part with them. They are not being produced now. Current grips are G10.
No aftermarket grips right now that I know of, however, some are in the works with a Forum member here, but not being sold yet. There are some extreme Hogue grips, sold by Rohrbaugh at the Rohrbaugh store for $69.95 a pr. Again, welcome.

Ohio etc, welcome to the best gun forum any where, home of the best and most helpful people on the planet. So be at home, feel comfortable and enjoy! Gene

John,

Ohio:
And a welcome to the campfire from me as well.
As noted above, aftermarket grips are a work in progress in some quarters. I personally have embarked on a project, with a lot of help from some friends, which if successful will result in a one-off set of R9 grips made from old ivory. All caution has been thrown to the winds on this one. If successful, I shall count myself very fortunate. If not, I shall take comfort from having tried.
-
Good for you, Richard. I hope it happens!
-
Thanks for the welcomes from everyone. After luurking around the Forum I see there is quite an interest in exotic aftermarket grips in addition to the original early Blue CF's. When I first read this I was mistakenly under the impression someone was currently making a Blue CF - I think the blues look cool, and I noted another member had done a prototype cocobolo grip set - WOW! Those, if put in production, would be some I'd like to have. Early pre-ban ivory would be sweet too. Being a retired Marine, green olive drab 'OD' aluminum I'd like also!
I have had my R9 for several years, even was lucky enough to obtain a take down tool from Mr. Hedley. Sorry to hear he has passed. I recently ordered a HBE IWB Pro from Eric.
My R9 is serial # R1337 w/CF Black grips. I also am ordering a black curved mag extention (postal MO going out Tues!) When I traded for my R9, PUP, I bought 1k of 115gr GDHP of which I have 950 rounds left - which I need to get to work on.
Best wishes to everyone here on the "PUP" forum! I love it!
-
John. Continue to enjoy that R1337. Looks like you have enough ammo to last awhile. Come on back to the campfire often.
-
There are several grip junkies around here, welcome to the group.

Welcome again,
