Since Rohrbaugh has discontinued the Robar edition what are they going to be worth now. The Special Forces Rohrbaugh had the same retail price if I remember correctly and I have seen them listed for $4400 :o
-
And it shoots the same as a garden variety Rohrbaugh.

That's probably too early to tell yet, since the Robar was just discontinued.
-
Listed but not selling for that price. ;D I guess they are worth what someone who wants one is willing to pay.
The thing everyone needs to be careful of is a Special Forces Knockoff. From what I have read there were around 24 of the SFs made.
I would verify the serial number with Rohrbaugh to be sure it was one done by them before purchasing an SF.
Here is a post from the past about the knockoffs.
The dealer was very open about it not being a factory SF but one sent to Wilson by them-- he said this was the first of 10 they plan to do.
Means we gotta be careful if we're looking at a SF down the road to verify it's a real SF as it's fairly easy to duplicate one and the original 24 or so the factory made are the only ones that will be actual collector pieces.

New $1850 Used $1500
But ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
-
As far as the price of a "Discontinued Robar" goes, I don't think I've seen any new ones come available since Robrbaugh discontinued the offering.
A couple did show up on GunBroker recently, one at $1795, and another at $1500, used, and I'm thinking, that was before the Rohrbaugh discontinuance.
On the $1850 on a new one now; could be.
-
There can't be many out there.
So what it is discontinued. I looked at the Robar as any thing that any of us could have done, well for the most part.
-
Some of us have done just that. ;D My Robar Knockoff. ;D ;D

That is beautiful.
I may have to have mine done eventually.
I'm toting it at the moment so it is difficult to give it up.
I should have kept my old one, I know I've said it before.
Maybe if I get the PF-9 to take the R-Nine's place long enough to get the Robar done.
How does it function?
Do you think that your R-9 will get scratched less?
-
I got it back from Robar in early August 09 and carry it all the time and have noticed no wear or scratches.
I am very pleased with the function since having it done, I have only had one ejecting round get caught before it cleared the chamber.
John
-
John,
Did you ship it to Robar without your CF grips?
-
Yes Sir, I installed crappy old G-10s for the trip. ;D
John
-
Good work; did they refinish one or two magazines?

I've always heard the Robar coating made the insides silky smooth. :)
-
As long as Robar does aftermarket NP3 plus coatings on R9s, I don't think a discontinued Robar edition R9 is going to fetch much more unless someone is a collector. Now if the Robar edition had special CF grips I would say the price would increase ;D
-
Hard to say; there are many different facets of "collectible" on the pups. To me none of them is particularly collectible as an investment but people will always chase what is scarce or what they missed out on or what they don't have. I bought them as a PDW and that is where it will stay.

You know, I was wondering about that. What should I do when sending an R9, if I decided to send it to Robar? Now I know. Thanks, there, John.

I'm still suprised that Rohrbaugh would drop the Robar edition. I guess the soft economy has hurt sales particularly on the premium models. Any how, I like to think that the Robar will be the most desired model for those wanting to step up from the base models.
I'll start it off:
Robar edition for sale $5000 Firm ;D

SIG,
Very nice, you have great taste in Rohrbaugh's. ;D
John
-
SIGQUICK. Great looking Robar, but I'll pass at that price! :D
-
kj,
Buying Sigs pup would save you all that waiting. ;D ;D
John
-
Hey, John. I've got nothing but time! ;D Well,........... :D
-
I guess when purchasing any item that has been discontinued, especially after it had not had a long production history, such as for many years, etc. one of the first things I would want to know is - Why is it being discontinued? Especially such a gun with a finish that is so highly touted by many of us out there?
Any definite answers to this?
-
Could it be planned obsolescence? I doubt it but there is a trail of discontinued but otherwise excellent R9s that raise the question. The only explanation is the economy's effect on the high enders but that just seems to fuel the demand even more when the production stops on a particular model.

John
If I may ask, how much did it cost for the finish and how long did it take?
-
Bowhunter,
It took 6 weeks exactly for mine but I don't know what there wait time is now. The cost with shipping was around $350, besides the NP3 I had them mill sight dots in (one in the front sight & one between the rear sights.

Bowhunter,
Someone posted that Robar is running a 25% off sale right now.
John
-
That would have been FloridaCCW. :)
-
That must be the someone I was referring to. ;D ;D
John
-
Yes! You're right, John! ;D
-
If your sending your R9 to Robar don't forget to have them do a magazine extension too.
-
SIG, what was the charge for doing the extension ?
John
-
John. $15 bucks. :)

Looks like less than less than $1575 since no one is bidding on this one. ???

That looks like a fair price for some envious observer.
-
Wow it went up fast to $1700!
