just wondering...
i'd like to upgrade calibers of my current carry gun (seecamp 32) and i may have the option to purchase a "used" 2009 R9s with less than a couple hundred rds thru it, but am concerned about not inheriting the "original owner's" lifetime warranty.
having been though an untold number of "used" firearms in the last 45 years i've rarely worried about this, mainly because repairs for most modern "consumer" guns are reasonably priced.
but i'm hesitant to purchase "used" when it comes to higher-cost, high-quality firearms made in very limited quantities that might require having any work done by the maker only.
i've heard horror stories about folks who bought other brands of "used" firearms that were no longer covered by a factory warranty so when they needed work done, the factory charged outrageous prices (in particular a brand of single action revolver with the initials "A" and "F", but not in that order).
your thoughts would go a long way to helping me decide if saving $200-300 on a "used" rohrbaugh is ok, or if the factory warranty is something important enough to worry about (in other words: only buy a new one).
thank you!!!

coyote,
Welcome to the group.
I believe Rohrbaugh will take care of you from what I have read
on here. One way to find out would be call Maria @ Rohrbaugh and see what she has to say.
I would not hesitate to purchase a used Rohrbaugh.

My impression is that they will inspect it and maybe charge a small warranty fee but that may have changed. In any case you can be covered by Rohrbaugh.

Maria will definitely be able to tell you; just give her a call at 1-800-803-2233. She'll be glad to help.

Welcome to the forum, coyote. Your concern is valid but if you read this forum enough you will see that Rohrbaugh customer service is praiseworthy in every way.
Since you are dealing with a hypothetical question, no cost can be assesed but I would call Rohrbaugh and speak with Maria to get a feel as to cost exposure in the event of product failure. They may even have a "price list" for non-warrantied repairs.
After speaking with the factory you can make a more informed decision as to purchase of the used R9.

gentleman!
thank you all for the warm and kind welcome. its nice to join such a friendly group.
i took your advice and called maria. she put me totally at ease and informed me of what it would mean to be the owner of a non-warrantied R9. in reality there is little chance of there ever being a problem with a "used" R9, so buying one seems like a fine idea.
on the other hand, the thought of owning a new one is even more exciting.
thus, if the "trade" doesn't work out, i will eventually order a new R9S Stealth through tom. as you might have guessed, maria has nothing but good things to say about tom.
having lurked around this site for years, it's nice to finally have a presence and be able to interface with you all. i look forward to learning everything i can from you guys.
again. thnx for the nice welcoming!
