Title: Winchester Super Elite
Post by: joco on March 10, 2011, 05:45:30 PM
I picked up a box of Winchester Super Elite 147 grain jhp bonded personal defense ammo today and they were eaten up by my pup! My question is, are 147 grain bullets harder on this gun then say 124 or 115 grain ammo? Also i had a little trouble with the first shell going in each time with the winchesters and the same trouble loading Hornady critical defense ammo ,the nose of the two are about the same.  I just had to fiddle with it a little and it went on and loaded, after that they were eaten up one after another!

Joco:

If I haven't welcomed you to the Forum yet, I do so now.

I used to load 147-grain Remingon Golden Sabers regularly in my R9 with no apparent ill effects. I've now dropped down to 124-grain ammo for compatibility with my HK P7, which was designed around the NATO 115/124-grain rounds and can have its gas-retarded recoil system occasionally thrown off by the heavier load.
