I have been lurking for weeks on several forums trying to decide what pocket 9mm to buy. You fellows unknowingly helped me make my decision. Well I picked up my new two tone R9s today.
Now as I am working late at our business I had time to disassemble clean and lube the Pup. After reading some horror stories about dis-assembly and re-assembly I was a bit hesitant.
At first things didn't seem to want to line up properly for the barrel pin to be pushed out. I slid the slide back to expose the barrel pin and put a drop of Rem-Oil on the pin from the left side of the gun and let the gun sit for about an hour while I was busy working. I came back to the gun just a few minuted ago and held the gun left side down and slid the slide back to line up the pin and hole in the slide. Well glory be the barrel pin slid out and landed on my desk all by itself. Cleaned her up and reversed the process to replace the pin. All is well with the world. Next time the Pup comes apart I'll have the right tool to remove the recoil assembly. I too, just don't feel right about using vise grips.
This is our busy season, but I hope to get to the range Saturday to break the Pup in.
Thanks to all for your help with my decision to buy an R9.
Now I'll go back to work.

Welcome to the forum SLash!
And job well done on dis/reassembley.
Enjoy your new R9.

I have not had to use pliers or wrenches for installing the recoil spring. I use a two handed approach, squeezing on each side with the slide resting on a cloth and table to keep it upright.
Usually get it in by the second try without poking my eye out ;)
Overall not to bad. I am confident that I can take it apart and reassemble without tools. I appreciate this for field stripping.

As much as I love tools, I don't use them either.

I don't use them either, but the takedown tool is good to have. Never know when it might be needed.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to shooting the Pup Saturday. I talked to Maria today while ordering a holster, spare springs and an extra magazine. She was great to deal with. I'm already enjoying my new Rohrbaugh experience and haven't even shot the Pup.
Again, thanks for the welcome.
