Title: R9 low serial numbers.
Post by: Blueeyedme on June 12, 2011, 12:33:39 PM
Hello all. I have been keeping my eye out for an R9 and I've come across a local one for sale. It's LNIB - looks it and owner claims 50 rounds downrange. It's priced right. Serial number is R18xx. Is there any difference between this and the new ones that are R5xxx?  Thanks.

Blueeye welcome to the group.
I cant say 100% but unless the ser. # is in the triple digits and the slide is a Farmingdale, I think they will be very comparable.

I would give Maria a quick call and she can tell you how old the gun is, I did this with the one I bought years ago. No huge differences to make you not purchase it.

Blueeyedme.  Welcome to the Forum and what John and garymass has said.  I would add, if it's like new and looks the part with the good price, should be worth it.  Good luck with your decision.

I have an early Deer Park "R6XX', it came stock with black CF grips. I am also not sure of what serial number was when the production change from Farmingdale to Deer Park was. Also not sure what were the last serial numbers of that came with stock CF grips.

I have a R12xx and a R16xx and I don't think they any worth any more than the new ones.

Unless somethinks the R12xx, being a "gray" frame has more value than the black frames.

The first thing I done after receiving my new to me R9 from Sigquick was to email Rohrbaugh and ask for the age and factory maintenance history of my pistol.

After a couple of days, they replied detailing their service records. The serial number of my pistol is R10XX. It was manufactured in 2005.

Smart to do DS.  I called Maria shortly after receiving the #127, no "R" prefix; manufactured Dec. 3, 2003, delivered May 5, 2004 to the original owner who kept it in pristine condition.  I'm, indeed, the now happy owner.
