I am trying to determine if this seller is legit, I found this R-9 :
http://texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=2&b=126343
Anyone recognize the photos ? Were they taken from another website somewhere?
This is my first post here, I am a disabled vet looking for a carry gun with more knockdown power than my Seecamp.
Also, is 3138 a real serial number for this pistol?
Thanks,
Jim in Central Texas

The serial number is legit.
Rohrbaugh just recently passed #5000.
I don't know the seller. $800 is a killer deal for an R9.
If you're both in Texas, can you arrange a face-to-face?
-
That's the problem. The listing says Dallas which is 90 miles away from me, but he says he's out of town at the moment.
Something just feels funny about this deal, and I'm trying to check it out. He will ship if I pay...........
If anyone has the ability to run a location check on the email he sent me, PM me and I'll send it to you. It has all the original headers, etc. I'd like to know here he is.
Thanks,
Jim in Central Texas

For $800, I'd be happy to go 90 miles. If he refuses, I'd run away. Better safe than sorry.
-
Yeah, you're right.
I sent the email header to my son, he's a computer guru -- maybe he can figure it out for me.
Thanks,

Welcome to the forum davvet2!
I agree with Recluse, good serial #, killer deal.
For 90 miles, I'd be there tonight.
It seems he's listed with a legit site.
If you just can not do a face to face, then Have your FFL dealer only receive from another FFL. That is easy enough to check out. As long as you make sure he ships through an FFL and make sure he has it before you pay, you are good to go.

I wish you did not post the site, I fear that some lurker may scoop that prize out from under you.
Hopefully ethics will prevail.

Jim. Welcome to the Forum. Recluse is correct on the R3138 serial no. being for real. I'm not familiar with this web site and agree with Recluse & Reinz on seeing if you can do a face to face deal; this looks like a good deal and with the Extreme Hogue grips, the G10's, and the aluminums. Big thing is, if it's for real. I just don't know.

Jim. Wishing you the best in this venture. This is a good looking gun and hope it works out.

Thanks Reinz and Trains --
I think that anyone that tries to "scoop" me on this one will find that the owner is very elusive and they may end up being scammed. (which is what I'm trying to keep from happening to me)

Copy and paste the sellers IP address, from the email, into this http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm website.
Good luck with the purchase of the R9, I hope it all works out for you in a good way! :)

For those of you that were following this listing:
The listing is gone -- either it sold (which I doubt) or it was a scam.
I ended up buying a R-9 from Jeff Quick on this board.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
