It seems to me that this forum has really taken of of late. I'm sure Duane has the stats but it seems there is more activity every day and each thread tends to last longer. With the Rohrbaugh factory at full production it is apparent that many others are discovering this unique little pistol!
It is not just the quality of the R9 alone that is making this forum successful and more popular - the members here appear to be in a unique class themselves. I have a few forums I check regularly but only 2 or 3 that I read most everything - and this is one of them. I like the civility here and appreciate the wide variety of experiences offered. It's a great place to spend a few minutes (or an hour!) every day.

I aqree that this is a great place to spend some time. Never thought I would be one of the junkies when I first came across it but here I am. When you're away on vacation you are wondering what you are missing - now that is a good forum. My work computer network filters out gun/knife sites. Guess that is good for them.
It is interesting what a great group of people one gun brings together. I find the forums that don't have a single gun orientation don't keep my interest for long. This forum has an area to discuss other guns but it is not the main focus. A person who knows quality is the draw here. Guess that is why so many are also Seecamp and custom knife owners.

FB - I think yes you are right - things have livened up pretty well. I actually have a problem trying to swing by here as much as I might - I moderate on two other forums and have my time cut out!
Being a very specialist board does make this I think a more dedicated and sensible place - almost all are here for one very specific reason and so we have our focus well maintained.
Add to that - and no aspersions cast toward younger folks - but we are quite heavy on the ''older'' people where i think by very nature, courtesy, manners and general politeness come to the fore. :)
-
I can't disagree with you on the manners, but I will say that mine were drilled into my head when I was very, very young. I can still remember when I was tiny, no more than 5 years old, getting in trouble for saying yeah instead of yes. Ahhh, memories.

It seems to me that the overall civility which has become a hallmark of this Forum is one of the keys to its continuing success. I have learned a great deal around here, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Richard, I feel exactly the same way. It is very satisfying to see the respectful dialog here between interesting people.
When I first joined, there were a couple of intruders of ill will who were quickly ostracized and probably tossed out by Duane.

It sure is a nice place here!

I found the forum from meeting Duane at a shooting class. My first exposure to the R9. I followed what was going on here for awhile and it got me more interested in getting one of the little pistols.
I agree with everyones comments here about the forum. It is interesting and informative. It also is a comfortable forum to communicate on.

Michigunner,
Forgot to comment on this earlier. Actually I have only had to offically eject two miscreants and I negotiated the voluntary withdrawal of a third... The two ejected were known firearms forums trolls.
The activity on the forum has picked up substantially lately. Very cool.

I agree that this is a very special forum with mostly mature attitudes - if not ages. The exception might be a few "less than desireable" PM's received. We can all contribute based upon personal experiences. Thanks for the great info.

"less than desireable" PM's received.
Sorry and surprised to hear that!!! I would not have expected it frankly.

It's a shining example of what is possible on the Internet. It is a real pleasure to visit here.
Thanks to all for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

Mefly,
If you are getting troubling PMs, let me know. I don't tolerate too much crap here, but I can't monitor PMs.
-
When reviewing the Profile of the PM section, I thought there was an Ignore feature where you could ignore someone who was troublesome.

For ME..
No ignore on this forum!! ;D
On others,I wish I would sometimes!! ;)
I like to know what "they" are doing.. :)
Choose for yourselves who the "they" are.. ;) ;D
This is a great place!! 8) 8) 8)

Soaring to 501 members now I see!! :) Seems like only yesterday we were wondering when number 200 would occur. I'm not a frequent one to post to this forum, but I would like to let all of you that do, know that I for one enjoy a visit most days and feel like I'm sitting at the corner diner amongst friends.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all
