Hey forum folks. I just picked up a new R9 stealth yesterday, and I gotta say she's s beaut Clark! My friends and wife think I'm an idiot for paying 1300(out the door) from my Lgs. But I think it's a Damn good decision. I did alot of research on this gun, like everything else I buy, and this little pocket rocket gets alot of praise.
I work in the automation world and deal with machined components daily, I know good quality when I see it. I just picked up a sig and Kahr in the last month, but this gun will be my edc.
Thanks to those that contribute to this forum and allow guys like myself to make an educated purchase before forking over serious dough.
Oh btw, I don't like the fact that detail stripping voids my warranty. Its a machine, no machine will last forever without detailed maintenance. This simple fact almost keep me from buying, but I figure its my gun i'll do with it as I please. Doesn't stop me from detail stripping anything else I own.
Thanks for listening.

Brian welcome to the group and congrats on the Stealth, your not an idiot for buying it. Some people just don't realize you have to pay a price for quality, maybe they would have approved if you had bought 6 Hi points. ;D

Welcome, Brian, and congratulations on getting the Stealth. Enjoy!
-
Welcome, Brian. I am not aware that detailed disassembly constitutes an exclusion from the warranty.
-
IMO the cost of the pistol has more to do with not having economy of scale - huge machines with huge production runs.
If the R9 was adopted by NATO with a garauntee of 10 million units purchased that would pay for the necesary machinery to make those huge production runs which would drive down marginal costs.
I'm not saying the R9 is not a quality pistol, I'm just saying the cost has more to do with economies of scale than "quality".

Congrats also and welcome from east Tennessee. The R9 is my most comfortable (and comforting) carry pistol, larger and more powerful than my Seecamp, smaller and more comfortable than the Boberg and a great choice as a primary carry piece or as a backup to something larger. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Congratulations Brian. In time, your wife will want one. ;D
I also was not aware of the warranty void for detail stripping. Most of us have replaced the stock G-10 grips with VZ and other choices, and when you take the grips and the slide off, you're almost completely taken down.

Welcome to the Forum and congradulations on the new purchase of your new PUP. :)

Brian:
Welcome to the campfire, and congratulations on selecting on what I consider to be the finest pocket pistol yet produced.
-
Brian, welcome to the forum, enjoy it and the new black pup. Tom

Thanks for the feedback fellas. Double checked the manual and did not see anything about detail stripping voiding their warranty. The gun salesman was misinformed. Sweet Georgia brown! That's how it should be.
Side note. Looking for a single mag leather holster.

A good buddy of mine suggested a high noon holster and I see they have Rohrbaugh on their product line.
Anyone have this guy?

As far as a holster you will need to try a bunch of different ones to find the one you like.
Robert @ Meco will make you a holster to your specifications. :)
