Title: My Review of the Springfield XDs 45
Post by: Ljutic on August 12, 2012, 08:26:08 PM
I was asked if I was interested in borrowing and reviewing one.  How could I say no.

It's good stuff.

I myself am also very "fond" of mouseguns, in fact yesterday I picked up a Beretta bobcat in Stainless Steel 22 caliber and fired it yesterday at 5 yards and got some decent groupings! It is fun to shoot and cheap lol, anyway as regards the XDS I've held one and to say I was not tempted would be a lie, Having fairly recently purchased a Glock 36, I thought I should hold off for a least a little while. Excellent review
Thanks Al

After years of procrastination, I finally decided it was time for a G36.  I picked one up in November 2011.  I was happy as a clam with it.

Then in January Springfield announces the XDs.  Now if I pick up the XDs, I'm duplicating again.  I may wait on the XDs 45 and see if there is an XDs 9mm coming down the line or I may see a 45 on the shelf and pick it up.   The XDm is quite a bit thinner feeling.

Good review Lijutic.  I have never been much of a small 45 fan, but after your article I kind of want to try one.  What is your pick, the Glock or the XDs?

I did put my name on Boberg's prelist list but that is 2+ years away.

For carry only, XDs for sure.  For carry and range fun, Glock wins.

I'm in the queue again as of April since I was planning on getting a Midnight.  Arne is doing a total blackout on my original while it's in for upgrades.  I owe you so you can have my second when I'm up again, if you want it.  See how karma works.

Excellent review, thanks.  A lot of students are asking about the XDs.  I generally like to hold off a while as a new design is wrung out by test pilots in the group, but it looks like a great carry piece.

Here is Boberg's overlays and what he is working on.  I find it interesting.

Ljutic, if I may. You've clearly done a great
job on capturing the Recoil of that Pistol.
I really like the Red 45º Angle Line on your
Recoil-O-Meter Chart.

I think editing out the lulls between shooting to
move the video along may go a long way. I'm
a typical bored american with a short attention
span, if you know what I mean.

I must say I'm begining to look forward to your
recoil Videos, especially of the Pistols I own or
am interested in owning.

Bill, I couldn't agree more.  I made a huge error on this shoot/review by using the High Speed camera as my primary camera to capture the standard video sections.  The camera should shoot both video types equally well, but I discovered it really didn't.  The HS camera has horrible microphones and at one point during editing I nearly lost 30 minutes of raw footage due to audio and video being out of sync.  I ended up being so relieved to recover the video that my editing got sloppy when syncing up camera 1 and camera 2.  I learned my lesson and I won't be making that mistake again.  Thanks very much for the candid and honest feedback.
