Title: R9 := Pocket Pistol as F40 := Sports Car
Post by: Richard S on October 07, 2012, 04:11:28 PM
These are ruminations on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Critter Creek while waiting for the Titans and Vikings game to start.

I have my R9, but I have reached the sad conclusion that I shall never own a Ferrari F40 Berlinetta. (Although I might have afforded one if I had demonstrated the good judgment to avoid that money pit represented by my ex-wife.   >:( )

Maybe no F40 in the garage but you made quite a trade-in and upgrade from your first wife.

Roger that!   8) I am one fortunate man.

Not so, today, the Titans.

Richard, you have a wonderful wife, Critter Creek for relaxing and a pup in your pocket, seems like a winner to me.
Those fancy cars are just another high maintenance item like as apparently your first wife turned out to be, your better off without them both maybe. ;D 8)

Right as usual, John. There is no Ferrari mechanic anywhere near Critter Creek, the F40's road clearance wouldn't allow it even to get to this place, and the woman to whom it is my extraordinary good fortune now to be married does not require an hour each morning to appear presentable. This one is beautiful upon awakening and without makeup -- to wit:

Great thread. It sorta reminds me of something
that happened in the late 80's. I had an MGB
and wanted a proper sports car. A good friend
of mine wanted to sell me his Porsche 930 Turbo
factory slope nose or his Ferrari 440 America. He
wanted 30ish for the Porche and 35ish for the
Ferrari.

I didn't buy either. Just a few years later my friend
died and his son inherited his small car collection.
The son promptly sent the Ferrari to the Reno Car
Auction.......it sold for 600 thousand and change.
I said, $600,000.00 and change!!!

That Dot Com Bubble was good to some people.

The car I always wanted was a Shelby AC Cobra.

And my ex-wife has definately impacted me financially, but I was fortunate enough that she wasn't into guns or knew enough about guns to go after my firearms during the divorce.

When young I drove a couple of big Healeys, a couple of E-Jags, an old Jaguar 150S roadster that needed a lot of work but was pretty neat...none were new but they were all fun and I do wish I had kept at least one of the Healey 3000's.

Met my wife (a nurse) during an ER rotation...somehow convinced her to go out with a 3rd year medical student...first date I discovered the back of her neck smelled like sugar cookies...still does!  45 years later still luckily and happily married, carry an R9, have my great great granduncle's 1902 saddle ring Savage 99 carbine (and various other things that go "bang") and feel truly blessed.
