Title: Anything Better Than a Yeti Cooler?
Post by: Reinz on November 09, 2012, 08:01:34 PM
I'm looking at the high end, bear proof Yeti coolers.   I have heard rave reveiws from many guys.

I remember hearing about a cooler similar that some said is better than a Yeti.  If so, what is the brand?

Thanks

Are there bears in Tyler or just 'coons?

 ;D ;D

Really looking for long lasting cooling and a lifetime of use.

If you have seen the Yeti, you know what I mean.  But very pricey.

Reinz:

The Yeti Tundra has to be considered top of the line when it comes to coolers. Next would probably be the Engel, followed by the Coleman Stainless.

Engel, that's the one I was looking for.

Thanks Richard!   :)

We use Engel's for transporting samples - I don't know if they make regular coolers, but they make great portable plug-in freezers/refrigerators.  My father has a special model for carrying his medication which holds 77F.

I have a Yeti Tundra 45 my wife gave me for our last anniversary, and I've been very happy with it! It does keep stuff cold longer than the Igloo and Coleman coolers I'd been using for years. My biggest gripe with them, however, is not the length of time they kept stuff cold as much as they simply wouldn't hold up to hard use for very long before either the shell would crack or the hinges and or latches would break... or all the above. I haven't had the Yeti for long, but it is obviously better constructed than the coolers you can get at Wal-Mart.

T-Man, my thoughts exactly on regular store bought coolers.  Thanks for your input

Aglifter, thany you for your input as well.  :)
