If someone wants to kill you it would be hard to stop.

Good link.

Middle belt of Nigeria, November 17, 1993. Lost "situational awareness" for a few seconds while pouring water into the radiator of an overheated automobile. Looked up into the muzzles of five guns held by armed robbers. Situational awareness suddenly reacquired with realization that the situation was FUBAR.

That sounds like situational awareness may have cost you your life and a Rolex.

Kept life, but suffered fractured jaw due to gang leader's need to demonstrate "leadership" to his men. Lost Rolex, automobile, 200,000 Naira, and a good measure of pride. Learned new lessons in gracious living on journey out of bush. Vowed never again to go unarmed.

If you had been armed then you probably would taken one or two with you, but I can appreciate your vow written in blood.
