The Devil, of course, is in the details, but for use against threats within 50 yards I would be inclined to take the pump shotgun. I happen to be of the school of thought holding that within such distance the 12-guage is one of the most effective and versatile self-defense tools available to "mere mortals."

Agree with above....most urban combat is close range.  Proper ammo in a shotgun is the way to go with a hi-cap pistol as backup while reloading.
