I have an answer to the invasion of African Giant Land Snails in Florida -- this invasion, in case you have missed reports of it:

During my years in Africa, particularly West Africa, I learned that these snails were a food source for many people living in the rain forest areas, providing a source of protein in diets typically lacking in that nutrient . Of course, I tried them. Surprisingly, I developed a taste for them. Prepared properly and cooked thoroughly, they are safe to eat even if a bit "rubbery." Think of them as escargot on steroids.
Here is a sampling of recipes from West Africa for turning these invasive pests into delicacies:

Remember, y'all down there in Florida . . . you heard it here. 8)

Try Sheri's restaurant in Opa-locka; this is one of her specialities.

See if we can market them to the Japanese and Chinese as male potency adjuvents...they will be extinct in 5 years.

Now that idea has real merit! ;D
