Post by: cargaritaville on February 19, 2016, 09:23:18 PM
I found this in a box today looking for something else. What/when is it from? Thanks.

It looks a lot like the ones in this picture.

Rohrbaugh Firearms showed their R-380 chambered in .380 ACP which was recently brought to market, as well as new Alumagrips for their pocket pistol line.

So I am thinking new in 2008 and from what I could find, the last set up for sale on the internet was $100 two years ago.

Here is another link to some that identify them as Alumagrips.

Yes, these were made for us by Alumigrip. Loved them, however, being CNC machined from billet aluminum and then being screwed onto CNC machined billet aluminum we had a situation that was not good. The vibration from shooting the gun loosened up these grips after as little as three of four rounds! We tried the usual medium grade Loctite to no avail. We had a few hundred of these grip sets left in our stock in various colors, which really looked good on the pistol. However, rather than have someone have the grip fall off when shooting , we decided to cease selling them for anything else than for use on a "BBQ Gun" by folks we knew and understood the issues with them. Perhaps with those little rubber O-ring things someone was selling to fit over the grip screws, they would absorb the shock and the grips would be fine and stay on better. Don't know at this point. . . . . But yes, these were another one of our favorite grip panels for sure. ;-)

Thanks for that info, Eric. I bought several of those from Alumagrips on close-out and never had them anodized and finished. Here is another opinion on some of their 1911 grips:

"Funny thing about the black AlumaGrips is the copper washer in the bottom of the screw hole. AS explained to me, this is necessary because the black anodizing is so hard standard grip screws can't grap hold of the grip and have a tendency to back out from recoil. The other colors are no problem."
