Norm,
I know I'm watching it too. :)

Just when you think that values have leveled off.....

I know. I made a couple early bids below the reserve and may have tried to take it if it stayed under 1500 or so. I don't see tons of collector value to it other than it is one of only a two I have seen with the U.S.A. slide but I am not sure how many folks really care of know about that. No books, case etc so I'm really surprised that it went for as much as it did.

I would be interested to know if equityman or maybesomeday are forum members. Anyone want to speak up???

That particular R9 has all of the updates to include the latest and the last slide revision, shown by the code of dots in between the USA, i.e. U.S.A. ~ That was our in house code showing the firing pin was moved about .002" to fully center it on the bullet primer. A beautiful R9 Elite someone just picked up there.
Enjoy it!

Was this something that started in Deer Park? I have a Deer Park gun that has the U.S.A. and it is fairly early in the 47XX serial range. I was under the impression that it was somewhat early production for the new site. So then would this be the latest revision of the slide as well?

I was under the impression that the changes that resulted in U.S.A. Slides were implemented after the Elites ended production so the only way an Elite would have this slide is if it went in for factory warranty repairs and the slide was replaced. The auction gun has a 2XXX SN which is pretty early. I had previously thought there was only one elite with the upgraded slide but I guess there are two.

We had some Elite models come back with issues that could only be rectified with a new slide and barrel combination. If any early gun came back for repair, we usually updated all parts of the gun whether it required it or not, just to be safe. I do not recall how many we did that to because as time marches on, sorry, but so my recollection is going along with it. . . . but I do my best to remember things to the best of my ability guys. ;-) lol.
