Title: New member, still waiting for gun
Post by: kevinqjhps on February 14, 2017, 02:42:37 PM
Hello all,

Been looking for the right R9 at the right price for quite some time. Well I found one at a dealer in ALASKA! I don't know if it will have to come by air or ship, I don't think you can ship guns through Canada so not sure when it will arrive.

It is a two tone with only one mag, the other probably ended up on G-broker. Actually G-broker is where I found the gun and a extra mag.

Paid a 'reasonably' good price for it so I am happy.

I got extra grips, 200 rounds of Winchester 115 gr JHP, 3 extra recoil springs, and a extra mag. Now I just need SOMETHING to put them together on. God I hate waiting for a firearm.

 What might that be about?

Seler is in Alaska. I am in Indy. I really don't know how long it takes payment to get there BUT I think 11 days are pushing it a bit.

Did you send it first class or priority mail?

I buy a lot of guns on line and I just about always send the money by priority mail.  That way the seller knows it was sent and I know when it gets there.

If the seller knows that I know when it is delivered they ship right away.  By regular mail they blame the Post Office and it takes weeks.

I do it the same way, Bob, and it has always worked without a problem.

Sent first class. I will call bank on Monday and see if the Cashiers Check was cashed. That's the ONLY payment he would accept.

You bought a gun on GB w/o doing your homework. The seller has 2 sales to his name, an A & an F for feedback. The odds of you getting your gun look to me to be slim. But maybe you will luck out.

Actually when I bought it he had NO feedback but has 38 guns listed and has a FFL. Don't think he will chance loosing his FFL over $1K.

If he had no feedback, no FFL, and no other sales I would have walked away from it. It will work out. I just HATE to wait for toys to arrive.

Well the bank said the Cashiers Check has NOT been cashed. I contacted the seller and told him I will give it 2 more weeks, that will be THIRTY DAYS SINCE PAYMENT SENT, then I will get the bank to refund my payment, contact G-broker and advise them the seller can't fill order, and find another piece.

In 10+ years and over 300 deals I have NEVER had one this bad. Oh well. Maybe I was due? ???

I prefer the gun but we'll see what the next two weeks bring. Once he cashes it I got him. His FFL will be in jeopardy and with one more negative feedback he probably get bared from G-broker. I just HATE to wait! :'( :'( :'(

16 days and still no news. I TRY to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and trust people unless they show me otherwise, BUT in another 14 days I am going to cancel the check and notify G-broker that seller can't complete sale.

If I get burned out of 1K so be it. It won''t kill me I'll just find another R9. Maybe it's the seller or maybe because the mail has to go from Indy to Alaska. In either case I will never deal with him or Alaska sellers again.

I bet that the Dealer has had the check for at least a week, probably more.

When I send something with a tracking number and I know when it's delivered, the gun ships quick.  Otherwise they blame the mail and it takes a week more at least.  Just my experience.

Good luck with the pistol.

Good Deal! I hate waiting for things I have already paid for. I feel for your ordeal. Nothing quite like the pain of a weird transaction hanging around to mess with your mind. :o

This whole deal was strange. He REFUSED to take Postal Money Orders. Heck those are the same as cash BUT if he skips it's not Postal Fraud.

Be glad to get it and shoot it. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Recently there was a guy wanting to sell a Bren Ten on the 10mm Forum.  He said it was his deceased father's and he had it on GB.  He only listed it for 1 day and it was cheap so I took a chance.

I called him up and he was a real goof ball.  He wanted the money quick and sent me an invoice from his internet company wanting Paypal.  My PayPal account is tied to a Credit Card so I had a way out and again took a chance.  I was not going to send him a check or money order.

The guy disappeared and would not answer voice mail so I protested the Credit Card and PayPal.  PayPal got the money back in about 3 days.

I still don't know what the deal was, maybe stolen I guess or he found someone to give him more money for it.

Good for you. You didn't get burned. Sadly it's only the last few years that these scam artists have crawled out from under rocks. It USED to be gun people were honest, decent people who's word was their bond. Now there are scum bags on EVERY SITE. Sad but true.

IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!! Just picked up my R9. This is a AMAZING firearm. Box, papers, two mags, extra recoil spring. Two questions:

What do you you use to push out the take out pin on the slide without marking the finish?

Anyone recommend a front pocket holster?

Thanks so much for everyones help so far. You all have been amazing.

I just use a pin punch from my little gunsmith tool box, plastic if you wish...no big deal.  I have some really good leather holsters, pocket and belt, but carry the R9 in a DeSantis Superfly...it's cheap, sticky, covert and ambidextrous with a removable flap (for either side) for back pocket use although I use it (the flap) in front pocket often as it really does obscure the outline of a pistol.  Glad you finally got your pup!

I am happy with my value priced pocket holster by Blackhawk.

Like the look of the DeSantis, same for the Fatti.  May need to consider one of those myself.

I make sure my thumb is in the trigger guard facing muzzle, with slide all the way to the rear, then with my right hand I simply take a wooden farmer match and push pin out.
It takes both hands to get slide back, but once it's back,no problem.Takes a little practice.

Duane Daiker, who you may know owns the forum, told me about a site that resizes photographs so they can be posted easier here.

The site link is:    http://webresizer.com/

I put in "700" and it works very well here for the historical photos I've been posting recently. Give that a try.
