I saw this on the Colt Forum. I have never shot one but the guys that have them really like them.

I bought one of Remington's 1911 10mm Hunter Longslides. With the $100 rebate it's under $900 delivered. It is the old Para Hunter which is a good gun and the Remington Branded version is getting good reviews.

That is the bargain of the decade. I have one and love it. The trigger is excellent with flawless dependability and good accuracy. I am seriously considering buying the .45 ACP version with this rebate in place.

A friend of mine manages a LGS with a range and I value his opinion a lot. I have a XDs 45 and it is a very good gun. My friend says if I like the XDs I would love the Shield. Better trigger and less recoil.
The Shields are what he is recommending to his customers and Springfield Armory is a local employer.

Also, the .45 is no larger than the 9 mm version. Both may be purchased with or without a thumb safety. Extended magazines are also available. What's not to like? This pistol and its versions saved S&W from extinction but these rebates reflect an overall softening in the firearms market since we recently lost the best arms salesman in the White House since William Jefferson Clinton.

My brother in law who is a LEO carries that S&W 9mm off duty. He loves that gun!
