round count/condition
« on: July 29, 2007, 09:12:30 PM »
Long time no speak! I have since run 600+ rounds through my stealth. I stuck with it through a multitude of ftf 's, fte's ,and light primer strikes with the first 100 or so rounds till I discovered that silvertips worked without a hitch. The gun now works perfectly with much less expensive ammo- american eagle, magtech blueline etc. I have only made 1 recoil spring change at 400 or so when I started getting failures again. Still have the original mag springs. The trigger guard edges are polished from carrying daily in a nemisis holster. I have 1 stripped grip screw, dont know yet if its the screw or frame. I need to tighten them after each range trip-100 rnd's. Tried blue locktite-n.g. I'll have to go for the red. Overall I am now happy with the gun and I do trust that it could save my life if need be! I hope to see other posts comparing round count and overall performance and condition. Thanks-Steve.

Welcome Steve,

Have a nice informational forum on the Rohrbaugh but it sounds like you have been looking at it for a while.

It is interesting what you brought up about the Stealth. I like wise have a R9S Stealth that I have had since March of this year and it has been back to the factory once for light primer strikes and the slide locked up after running too many rounds too quickly.

Just had a shooting session this weekend and I have packed it up getting ready to ship back tomorrow. I have run about 300 rounds through it since I have had it and about 60 this weekend. I am getting light primer strikes and misfires about 2 - 3 out of about 20 rounds. It will always go off on the 2nd or 3rd pull of the trigger. It is in full battery so thats not the problem. I was shooting, Winchester white box 115gr fmj, 115gr jhp Gold Dots, 124 gr jhp Hornady and Gold Dots. It is happing with all the ammo I have tried. I have never tried the silvertips in it though.

Out of the problems I have incountered I have never had any type of fte or ftf problems. I have the new mag and rebound springs in it.

I also carry mine in a Desantis nemisis holster all the time. I am getting a insecure feeling of carring it not knowing if it will go off on the first pull of the trigger thats why its going back a second time. I can't get ride of my pup because I really love it so hopefully I will get it running at 100% like yours.

Artec, 400 rounds on a recoil spring you have to be beating the gun pretty hard.  I wonder if this contributes to the loosening of grip screws ?  Dan

Hey Dan, If you are saying that the worn spring isnt absorbing enough of the shock from the recoil, you might be right and I will take your advise. However the screws have worked themselves loose from day one. I guess I just needed to put her to the test. Thanks.....Steve

Artec,  It is strange. There have been posts of other guns with grip screws that work loose so I understand what you are saying.  They great majority of them stay put. I don't know why this is so.  Mine have never come loose and as per Karl R there is no reason for me to go in there. So I don't.  Dan

Concerning the recoil springs..
I have the "old" springs,do not change every 100 rounds..

The original recommendation was every 500,then was changed to 250.. ;)

Just me,but I have not had any problems with any of the pups that I have shot-plus I bought extra Recoil springs before they changed them!!

My grip screws have not worked out,I always make sure they are "just snug" I feel no other reason to get in there anyways..

Shoot a little and carry a lot.. ;)

YMMV

45ACP2GO, sorry to hear about your pup. I haven't shot my stealth yet. Hoping it is ok. The stainless always has some eject issues. I am not sure, till I shoot it a few more times if it goes back or not. The thing is so sweet. Perfect size for carry.  Let us know, how it all works out for you, WS6

Hi WS6,

Just spoke with Marie at Rohrbaugh and my pup will be home Friday. She said they replaced the whole top section  & slide. Sounds like the problem has been taken care of.

You don't realize how much you miss your pup until you have to do without it for a week. In this 102 degree weather I sure don't need anything bigger. Think I will be adding that extra pup to the kennel real soon.

WS6,

Talked with Karl today. I feel 100% confident that it will be 100% reliable. Can't beat that. Will be seeing my pup for sure tomorrow and should get it into the field this weekend for test run.
