Looking for new R9
« on: June 14, 2011, 02:48:13 PM »
I haven't been around here for quite awhile. Had an early R9 but I had enough malfunctions with it that I didn't trust it quite enough to carry it.
Now it appears that the bugs have long since been worked out and I want to get another one.
Is there currently a wait time for the R9 these days? What is a good price for a NIB R9? Is the Stealth version harder to find? How much more expensive is it?

Welcome back!

You may want to try Tom Watson of The Irish Guard. He is the man around here to help you with your new R9 purchase.

Click on his banner on the top of the screen.

When I was looking recently online and calling dealers including Tom, prices on the (Black) Stealth were running from $1175 to $1250.  The two-tone seemed to be about $50 less.

They did not seem to be in short supply there were at least half a dozen available.

Thanks. I was able to get in touch with Tom (Irish Guard). I bought a Seacamp from him in the past so I know he's good to deal with.

harrydog.  Welcome back from me as well.  Hope you get a deal worked out with Tom on the R9.    :)

How well does the finish on the Stealth model hold up? I like the look but I'm wondering how it will look after a year or three.

I don't own a Stealth, but it seems the finish doesn't hold up as well as a two tone; even the Covert has finish wear seemingly early.  The Covert is not finished by Rohrbaugh, but by Wilson Combat and sold by an authorized dealer.

Here's a link from a member with a Covert:
