Happy Memorial day to all from new member
« on: May 31, 2010, 11:40:49 AM »
Hello all
This is my first post. I am retired LE. I have been deeply interested in this one of a kind weapon made by Rohrbaugh. I have quite an assortment of the little guns, (hence the name). I usally carry in the front pocket  Presently carry the LCP loaded with speer GD, or BB HFN. For years I carried the S&W 36 load with +P HP. My aim is to have similar or better power and reliability in a smaller lighter package. As i can tell the Rohrbaugh is the best option. Not suprisingly this gun is hard to find despite the high cost. Also get the idea each piece is a work of mechanical art that I would love to own. I would like to hear thoughts on a realistic waiting times and location to pick one up. I see GB shows them but I get the feeling they are on back order. I am most interested in the Steath R9. Also best advise on rounds to use, so as to track those down in anticipation. I see the GS and speer GD get a good rating on this site. (speer always flawless in my G19) Thanks for any advise on this. I hope to share past and future experience with other members.

Littleguns, welcome to the best pistol, people, and forum on the internet!! As far as getting one of these jewels, there's a two word solution: Tom Watson. I've bought four guns from Tom I can assure you that there are none better (or quicker) than The Irish Guard. Again welcome.   Gene

littleguns.  Welcome to the Forum.  I echo what Gene has said of Tom Watson of The Irish Guard and Tom himself.  Again, welcome and post often.

Welcome to the Forum for the finest pocket pistol yet designed.

Give Tom Watson ("theirishguard") a PM about the R9 of your choice. He is a licensed dealer and long-time supporter of the Forum who will coordinate the acquisition through your local FFL.

Thanks so much for the warm welme. I look forward to posting upon experiencing R9 ownership. This weapon has been anticipated for quite some time. I own many small guns however the one that stands out as similar to the R9 is my Desert Eagle Micro 380. Very well made (all metal) and small. flawless function (500 plus rounds. However 14 oz wieght and 380 cal. Unfortunately for this gun, with its hefty price tag, of 539, heavy weight and recent abundance of small 380's now on the market, it will probably not sell very well.
I am curious about one statistic. Has anyone ever compared a 380 +P (such as a corbon or buffalo bore) to standard 9mm in a short barrel. Knowing that the R9 isn't recommeded for +P and LCP can handle some +P in 380 it seems like a good question.
                                            Thanks
