Now They Want To Repeal "Stand Your Ground" Laws
« on: July 20, 2013, 09:20:55 AM »

It would appear that the anti-gunners now want to replace "stand your ground" laws with laws requiring citizens to "cower and run."

I wasn't aware that holder and obama have anything to do with state laws.

And the anti-gun crowd seem conveniently to have forgotten that Zimmerman and his defense specifically waived a hearing on the "Stand Your Ground" issue.

Stand your ground was never the issue...Z was on the ground having his head pounded into cement...even had there been a "duty to retreat" he had no possibility of doing so.  His defense was properly purely self defense.  His attorney will use "stand your ground" in defense of a civil suit (clearly he had neither the legal requirement to nor the possibility of retreat) since in Florida if the event was stand your ground no civli suit can be filed.

I am amazed that our erstwhile PODUS can admit that Travon Martin "could have been me at that age"...in other words that but for George Soros, BHO could have remained a drug abusing violent young African American thief and presumed burglar (based on possession of burglar tools and various items cleary not his) who skipped school regularly except, of course, when he had been expelled anyway...just shows you that "in America, anyone can become president."  Is this a great country, or what?

People fear what they don't understand... and don't try to understand.

Most of the people on this bandwagon have no idea what change the SYG laws made.  They don't believe in self-defense generally, and this sounds "aggressive" to them.

Even worse are the politicians who do understand, but will capitalize on the ignorance of the public to further their anti-SGY agenda.

I am having trouble watching the news again lately.  I'm sliding into my news funk that usually only peaks around election time.

Standing high amidst all of this rubble is an extraordinary story of heroism and personal sacrifice that knows no boundary or limits of racism. The following is a recent press release about Thomas Hudner CAPT USN, retd. I heard him speak 9 years ago at a symposium in the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. He related an extraordinary story leading to his award of the Congressional Medal of Honor. He is a veteran of the Korean War and has chosen to return to North Korea after 63 years to find the site of his flight leader.

I think Tom found it a long time ago; this is not about him.
