New member here.  When I first saw the R9, it had to be late last year, at a local gun show.  They had a company table, and were taking orders, but there were no guns for sale.  The pieces on display looked really nice, but I didn't want to pay the money for one until they got out in the field and I could see some feedback.  At any rate, fast forward a year, and the reviews seem to be great.  Then I see a used, but LNIB R9 with the laser pocket slipper for $800.  It came with all the docs and accessories, so I picked it up.  I was a little nervous as I had heard they could be finicky.  I took it home, took the laser off, cleaned and lubed it, and then took it to the range.  I fired 30 rounds of WWB 115 gr ball and 20 rounds of 115gr Speer GD.  I found that if I shot the gun "high thumb" like my 1911, if I touched the slide with my weak thumb at all, the piece would jam.  If I shot the gun one handed, or two handed with a conscious effort not to touch the slide, the gun was 100%.  It fired all 20 Gold Dots without issue.  Needless to say, I'm impressed with the gun, and it'll almost certainly replace my Seecamp .32 as my BUG.  Nice pistol!

Welcome to the forum, Slowhand.

I just got my R9S last month, and carry it all the time.

Glad you are here.

Hi Slowhand!
Remember me?
I had some feed problems with my R9 the first time out and maybe my "high thumb" grip (being used to shooting 1911's) had something to do with it. I'll have to experiment.
Thanks for the tip!

Hey, Harry!  Funny meeting you here  ;)

Yeah, if you are shooting the R9 high thumb and having problems (I saw your previous post) try shooting the gun with your strong hand only.  The reason I was confused as to the nature of the jams was that they were so random (didn't matter which round in the mag) and the gun chambered and ejected (by hand) a mag full of A-Zoom snap caps without a hitch.  Once I figured it out, I verified the problem by deliberately putting my thumb up to the slide.  As it turned out, I was touching the slide so lightly that I didn't even know I was doing it, but it was enough to tie up the gun.  My suspicion is that the gun needs every bit of spring power coming back into battery to strip that round off and chamber it, as the feed ramp is pretty steep.  If I wasn't able to cure the problem at the range, my next move would have been to get out the Dremel and some Simichrome and lightly buff the feed ramp.  I am going to stick with the 115 grain Gold Dots, just as an FYI.  They fed 100% (I diagnosed the problem with the WWB ball), so two full mags with one in the chamber, and one full mag with an empty chamber (20 total) went through perfectly.
