Spring change

Has anyone tried a new magazine spring with a new recoil
spring? If so, any comments would be appreciated.

I know about the difference in the Mag spring.

Is there a difference in the recoil spring also?

Yes, I just changed recoil and magazine springs. (Magazine springs are the newer, stronger version). Gun was perfect on last two trips to range after spring change (@60 rounds...124 gr. gold dot). Not sure if recoil springs are different, but the two I just received did appear to be different color shade than older ones. Length appears the same though, so I assume are the same. The magazine srpings are significantly stronger.

MountainMan

In above post, I described recoil springs I just received as being same length as old springs. That was my memory when I changed them two weeks ago, but after seeing your post I decided to check. I have two older, unused recoil springs and one  newer one from recent purchase from Rohrbaugh.  I just compared the older v. newer and what do you know! The newer recoil spring is longer, and is a slightly different color shade.

Newer spring on left. Older, unused spring on right. As you can see, new recoil spring is  longer.

Interesting - being that both are unused - that is the way a new and used one looks together.

When I call sometime in the future to order some new mag springs I'll have to ask about the recoils.

Thanks jimacp

Yea, I was surprised too. The older spring on the right was one of two still in the packaging sent by Rohrbaugh a year or so ago. I don't usually keep my old springs, so I'm pretty sure thats not a used one. Let me know what they say if you call.

Maybe someone should just ask Karl if they changed the recoil spring?

I called the factory yesterday to order new mags and asked about a change to the recoil spring. The nice woman who took my order said she didn't know anything about new recoil springs. She said that since she did the order fulfillments she thought she'd know if there were new recoil springs. I said there was a picture posted here of two different length springs one said to be newer than the other. She said she didn't know anything about that but would make a point of finding out. That's all I can add.

Well, hopefully the information I provided above is not incorrect. When Mountainman asked the question about recoil springs it prompted me to go check mine, since I knew I had some older ones, and had just received a couple of new ones which I ordered as part of a larger order for magazine springs. In my "spring box" I had the little plastic zip lock package from Rohrbaugh with 2 recoil springs in it from a previous order. Both of them are the same length. I then took the above picture comparing one of those older ones to the one I just received from Rohrbaugh. I suppose its possible that I had for some reason saved old used springs in that same zip lock package and just forgot they were used, but I doubt it. I wouldn't usually do that. Anyway, let me know if anyone talks to Karl.

When I asked the initial question I did not mean to imply
that there was a different new recoil spring available; I
was only asking about the performance when the different
new magazine spring was mated with a fresh recoil spring.
