Just bought an R9S
« on: March 14, 2009, 01:45:01 AM »
After looking at these for quite awhile, stopping just short of committing to buying one I finally did it.  What a solid feeling gun!  I was finally able to locate ammo for it today, so I'll be giving it a try this weekend.  I can hardly wait!

BUT...

What's with the case?  That thing is fatter than the one my Glock 39 came in!  It barely grips the gun at all when closed, and the mags just flop around inside it.  Is there a reason (law or other concern) that requires a gun case to be at least a certain size?  I don't see any other reason they would match such a thick case with such a thin gun.

Oh well, at least it'll be out of the case and on my person 99.9% of the time (once the holster arrives).  ;D

sdlsaginaw:

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on selecting what I consider to be the finest pocket pistol yet manufactured!

As for the size of the carrying case, on those rare occasions when I transport my R9 in its case rather than holstered in my pocket, I make it a practice to place a couple of filled MTM Case-Gard ammo wallets (as well as some basic cleaning gear in a zip-lock plastic bag) underneath the bottom foam pad of the case. The combination makes for a perfectly tight and secure fit.

Welcome again, and good luck with your new masterpiece.

Welcome!!  Enjoy your new R9 and the forum.  Post often and remember we all love pictures.  I had never thought about the case size being to large.  I wonder if they have started shipping them in larger cases than the ones I have.  Looking forward to your first range report.  Have fun.

Welcome and congrats. on the purchase of the new pup.
With the case being that size you can put the gun in while still in the holster for extra protection.

I tried that, but it made it really hard to sit and I kept getting funny looks, so I think they knew I was carrying...    ;D  ::)

Wife is out of town with the camera, and the cellphone pics weren't worth posting.  I'll get some pics when she returns.  I should have the aluminum grips on it by then too.

Finally, a picture of my new pup with aluminum grips...

The back pocket holster from Meco just arrived today as well, and only 2 weeks wait, no complaints there!  I'll have to get a picture of it.

Very nice, looks like the pup should be comfortable in the new house.  John
