Keltec P11 Help

I was at the dealers the other day and he had a P11 for $280. I picked it up and was looking at it and he said he needed Christmas money and if I wanted it I could have it for Half price $140. So I bit and now i got a P11 and need to know if they are any good or can be made to be dependable.

I can only speak from occasionally reading about them.  I understand they are quite popular.

You occasionally see someone say: why should I buy this or that, when I can get two or three P11's

If you don't compare it to a $900 gun,  I've had a couple, and they shot fine. Would make a fine car/truck gun..

Have you shot it to see if it is reliable?  The only thing I did to mine -- was to polish the feedramp with polishing compound and a felt tip on a dremel tool.

Mine has bee flawless out of the box.  With the use of good quality ammunition, it should work just fine.  I think the reliability complaints are vastly over-stated.

We here behind the lines in Md. have to wait 7 days before we can get a gun so it will be awhile before I am able to shoot it. It is all black and I like the look and have seen some with chrome/nickle? slide. I will try to dress it up and make it dependable and accurate. Nothing like a gun project to keep myself entertained. :o although I don't know what use I have for it when i get done.

I purchased a new P11 on a whim last year just to see what all the "hype" was about.

I paid $225 + tax, so at $140.00 you got a steal.  

My KelTec P11 has been 100% reliable with the exception of some batches of Wally World ammo.  Some ww white box is excellent, some is merde.  The merde it rejects..

The P11 is quite accurate at self defense range (3-7yards for me), but beyond that it's not very accurate.  Of course if you shoot anybody beyond self defense range you need to immediate call your lawyer anyway..

I was so happy with the P11 I bought a P32, and it too has been very accurate and 100% reliable.  I personally like KelTec firearms, and KelTec's reputation for customer service is 2nd to none.

My P11 is my "hidy" pistol in my El Camino......

I think you'll find you got a real bargain.

Is the slide very hard to operate on your P11?

It was pretty hard on my P3AT.

Bill...

I guess it might be, I just always keep one in the barrel and forget about it.  If I can't slow 'em down enough to beat a hasty retreat with 11 rds. of CorBon another magazine requiring having to pull back the slide to cycle a round wouldn't do me any good anyway.

The P3AT was pretty tough for me to pull back.  The main problem was there was not much room to get a grip.

I wasn't thinking too clearly when I made my first post or I would have remembered that the P11 slide will lock back after the last round is fired, so all you have to do then is insert the backup magazine *(you DO have a b/u, right?) and release the slide and you're good to go again.

*I'm embarrassed to say I don't have one in the El Camino..  I don't like leaving a 2nd mag. in my vehicle as if someone breaks in the vehicle and finds the mag. they might then start looking for the pistol itself.  Besides I honestly think 11rds would be more than sufficient for my needs.

Even if the slide did not lock back, I would probably shoot the slide contents minus one, and then refill the magazine.
