* * *And by the way, that is just back up, I carry a custom  Scott McDougall and Associates /Robar 1911 behind my right hip and spare mag behind my left hip.

Good Luck

That SM&A rig of yours is a real prize! I meant to get one for years, but kept putting it off. As a result, the only thing I now own with the famous SM&A touch is a Colt Mustang .380, which has one of their guide rods and one of their aluminum triggers. As you know, SM&A went out of business in 2002 due to the illness of Doug McDougall, who tragically died in 2004. Now Mac Scott is semi-retired up in Oregon.

Enjoyed reading that article, Richard.  Time does pass very fast.  Too fast!  Remember, as a kid, Christmas took forever to get here.  Now, to me, it's just like, around the corner.

FYI, I just read an article on self defense, the author said it was important that if you were right handed a knife should be in your left pocket or on your left side.

Reason is if you are in a fight you lead with your right hand it could get tied up by your apponent.  Same if you pull your gun and your apponent graps your right hand with gun in it, you want to be able to use your left hand to access your knife.

Practice with your left hand and knife deployment, it's harder than you think.

Great points to take to heart!

Thanks for sharing those Dino.

Along those lines -  I plan to buy another pup at some point in the future, that way I can just bag the spare mag in my left pocket and replace it with New York Reload Left handed style!
Or to follow  that author's philosophy, start carrying the back up gun for weak hand retrival in addition to or in place of the knife.

Your thoughts...anyone ?

Richard -
It's funny, well, it may sound like boasting, lets just say, I have some more well known "names" to carry.  But I always go the the SM&A.  It's a Colt Officer's model with the "Full Meal Deal".    When the bluing started wearing too thin I took it to Robar for NP3 bottom and internals, and Rogard black matte on top.

No one seems to know who SM&A are/were, or appreciate them, if they do, they only know them for their "little" Colts.
I have a Gov't 380 with melt down package, reliability, night sights, trigger job ---sweet.
My brother bought the mate to it, a Mustang tricked out the same.

It's a shame, they are no more.

I'm glad you have one!

But that does not surprise me.  ;)
