Hopefully, that won't be available!  You said what?    ;)

So is this thing on an auction anywhere yet? I haven't seen any scoop on it unless I'm missing something somewhere. ???

Tom you must have missed it.  It had a buy now of $500 and I just had to get it.   8)

The above two lines are complete BS.  I dont think it has hit auction yet.

The BS above stands for "blowing snow".    ;D

BS is exactly correct as blowing snow in standard weather report phraseology. Unless it is on MWN, Mount Washington, N.H.; then it is ST, sheer terror. Today is quite mild at MWN.

Tracker that link hits home for my family.  My father, William Callahan, died at the age of 57 from a massive heart attack on September 29, 2002 at the top of the observation deck there.  He had finished his first marathon just a couple months before and was in the best shape of his live, we thought.  He and mom were on vacation when it happened.  I miss my dad more than I can relay in type but am SO thankful for the time we had together and the time he spent with me.  I did not know his name was on the site and am thankful for your post.  I may have never know it was there.

Thank you for that, Corey; I have known of the beauty and treachery of MWN for years but didn't know that some considerate soul had the empathy to post all of the misfortunes there in some detail. I am saddened to hear of your father's passing but am consoled that his legacy is inscribed there in that fateful place.

My Dad died in 1969 at the age of 53, also from a heart attack.
I never had the chance to spend a lot of time with him, because he worked at Bethlehem Steel (32yrs) and worked swing shift (one week of days, one week of afternoons and a week of nights) then start the rotation over. I was twenty years old when he died, and wish I could have had the opportunity to spend time with him as an adult. My Mom will be 92 next month
and my step father just turned 97.

This thing with the father never seems to be quite right; they either die too young as in Corey, Richard, and John's case or in my situation my father died at 92. He and my mother were divorced when I was 12 and I spent the next 50 or so years trying to connect with him. Only in the last 10 years of his life was I able to bridge the emotional gap. Nothing is easy.

I just saw the last few posts on this thread. Corey, John, and Tracker -- you have my deepest sympathy on your losses.

My father died in 1942 when I was five years old. My mother never remarried, I was her only child, and she elevated my father to near mythical status in my young and impressionable mind. I still tend sometimes to measure myself against the mythical man I never knew and in doing so sometimes find myself lacking. As Tracker notes, nothing is easy.

I'll certainly add my sympathy to Corey, John, tracker and Richard to the losses of your Dad's.  I was fortunate to have my Dad until 2004 when he passed at 91, however, he is still missed greatly.  He was a master of everything and could fix anything that was broke or didn't work.

My Mom is now 92 and still lives by herself and drives to get her hair fixed once a week.

I understand your pain, and your feelings even though I had mine longer, except for tracker.  The loss of a Dad is tremendous and my thoughts are certainly with the each of you.

I too will pass along my sympathies to all above..

We all live this life quicker than we believe we are,and this is never so clear as it is with Parents,,

Lucky to have my father for 80 years(Mom too),but it's going on close to 20 years since his passing, and I still turn around and want to tell him something!!

This is why I will fight the good fight, to stick around for my kidlins as long as possible..

Did someone say something about an auction?? 8)

Oh, yes . . . the auction.  8)

One of the great things I find about this Forum is that, although the threads sometimes drift a bit, they are almost inevitably civil and are usually very interesting -- and they eventually tend to get back on subject. Just as you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't judge a thread on this Forum by its title.

Now . . . just where is that auction?

Sorry guy, I don't have any update at this time.  I fear the whole thing will end in a whimper, as opposed to a bang.
