I was born and breed in NJ for nearly forty years. When I seriously wanted to expand my gun collection, I moved across the river and now reside in PA -- just as nice as NJ in most respects ... a little nicer in SOME respects and a little less nice in other respects but over-all a very nice place to live.

Everyone,

I'm back from 4 days in paradise, aka, Vermont. Thank you for your comments regarding NJ. And I haven't even gotten to the auto insurance issues in this awful state.

If you can, get NJ Manufacturers (auto insurance).  Cheapest up there.

PCA, It seems that if one wants to be able to do what they want to do and have little or no problems in NJ they need to be in politics.    Welcome back!   Tom

Hi folks. I was about to order an R9 the week before last, but the local dealer wanted $950 up front. I'm thinking about it.

Meanwhile, even though I'm from Virginia, I know that there're parts of Jersey that are great. For instance, there's the Cowtown Rodeo. It's in its 51st year. www.njsouth.com/index-cowtown.htm

Cowtown is a place where they have rodeo, which is not common in NJ since the state past time is committing felonies and locking up gunowners who try to protect themselves.

Former Senator Torricelli walks free. Former governor MacGreevey walks free.

NJ Manufacturers auto insurance is difficult to get because there is a waiting list. Anyone want to pay $2000.00 per year with zero points on their license? Welcome to NJ, where the politicians have their pocket lines by insurance companies and mobsters.

Just yesterday, five politicians arrested after an FBI sting. Mayors of towns and local officials. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO DECIDE IF YOU GET TO PURCHASE A GUN.

Iam from Louisiana, if you don't have a pistol in your pocket, law enforcement is required to provide you with one.

Kerry, When the SHOT SHOW was last in New Orleans, some friends went to get some catalogs out of my truck, 3 kids stuck guns in their face and took all of their money, my truck keys, and then told them to kneel on the sidewalk. One of them hit the bad kids arm and took off running and yelling call the police. I came running out with my .45. Then the cops showed up and we showed the cops our carry permits. The cops asked what the permits were because no one can carry in New Orleans. We informed them about the agreement between the states. They said it was against the city law to carry in New Orleans. However, they advised all to have a gun in their car while in town because it was so bad, they thought in gun in the car was the same as one in the house.  When the cops caught the kids after totaling my truck, the grand jury let them go.   Because of all the problems to show folks the SHOT will never come back to New Orleans.  Tom

Tom, you're correct N.O. police are very tough. I'm a police commander and never had a problem in New Orleans. The good news is that Louisiana has the most liberal gun laws in the country. Sorry you had a bad experience down here.

Kerry, We had no problem with the police at all. Just the young kids with guns. NOPD had been after them for months. Then the grand jury kicks them free after several armed robberies. Several workers at the SHOT SHOW at the conv.,ctr had problems. Gives one a good reason to carry all the time.   Tom

New Jersey would have arrested the gun owners. The kids who committed the crime could have sued the gun owners who held them at gunpoint and WON. I am very serious. Prosecutors in NJ are 10 times more likely to go after gunowners than criminals.

Want more? A gun owner fired a shotgun into the air, on his own property, because his rural house was violated by a black bear (Sussex County for those of you keeping score) and the man was arrested for discharging a firearm within city limits.

Did it matter to the prosecutor that the man had small children in the house? No. Did it matter to the prosecutor that the man fired into the air in order to save the life of the bear as well as his children? No.

The man was charged, plea bargained and was fined $5000.00. Do not know if it was a misdemeanor or felony but it happened.

PCA, You are only safe if you line their pockets!  It just seems like things are 180 degrees off.   When you do move hand pick a firearms friendly state without state income tax.  Tom

Tom, the courts have long been a problem. They only see the trash after its been washed, groomed, and placed in a new K-mart suit. Lethal injection "phooey", how about deep fat frying in the window of Popeye's Fried Chicken. Shake your head if you agree.
