You guys are truly amazing.  I can't believe the fellowship on this board.  I glad to be part of it.  I have my daughter's wedding this saturday and therefore my free time is very short.  Once that big day is behind I'll post a follow up of the range session and how all your advise has panned out.  I need to learn how to post pics using my Motorola Razr phone.

That dealer is what makes this a very special forum - and not many boards can boast such.  Of course some of this is the benefit of membership that is not too huge, coupled with a dedicated following specific to just one gun.

Now and again hackles can get raised but it is a rare occurrence for sure and most is down to the cameraderie of a shared interest and possession.  Long may it continue :)

(Plus - many of us - myself included - are ol' pharts - who generally have manners of maturity!! LOL! ). Which is not to suggest for one moment that our younger members are not other than themselves most courtious and well mannered.

It's - an ''R9 thing" ;D

Thanks one and all for the advise, especialy R9SCARRY.  I was able to go out yesterday and shoot my R9s a full 50 rounds and experienced absolutely no malfunctions what so ever!  Further more this piece is extremely accurate being able to hit anywhere at will upon a humanoid target set out at 8 yards.  Head shot, torso, point that little pup and bango.  To say I'm delighted would be an understatement.

Now on a pratical matter, can I use mil-comm tw25b grease!  It works geat on my sigs?  Take down in getting the slide pin out it's pushed from the right side of the frame to the left?  How are you to keep alignment of the hole in frame to slide.  I know that the holster guy made a "stick" in aliuminum perfect size, but I'm up on round count and need to thourghly clean my pistol.  How best to proceed with out buggering my new gun.

Lastly you realy need a channel lock plier to replace the recoil spring.  I was lucking to be able to secure 5 spares as well as a 2 more magazines.

Some of the guys were using chop sticks to hold the slide at the correct place, to remove the pin.   The chop sticks would have to be  like a wedge.

I got the aluminum tool from RJ Hedley.  It works fine.

Tony - Glad your intro shoot was successful and satisfying.

I still use the taper end of chopstich for hold-open.  But at a pinch even a sharpened pencil will do!!!

I do not know that grease but IMO even allowing for the recommended stuff, any good grease should be adequate - more important I think just to ensure that take-down and clean/lube is often enough.

Pin right to left yes... if you look at slide holes - it's only way :)

You say thoro clean - well normal take down is all that should be needed - I'd leave grip panels etc alone - I have had mine off once, partly to take pics but all you need for cleaning is exposed with normal field strip.

I still do not use channel locks for spring replacement, reassembly.  Maybe despite age I have enough hand strength, and really hate getting anything steel in the way - tho of course Bros R do recommend that method.  I'd try and see what works for you.
