problems
« on: October 22, 2005, 12:23:08 AM »
No doubt there have been some mechanical function
problems; I have small hands and had a second flawless
trip to the range today--it almost felt that I would have
had to induce a failure. I wonder how many people who
have FTF, FTE, or other jam problems also have large
hands---no criticism intended, just a thought. Also, the
only ammo I have fired is GD-124 as recommended.

My problems were caused by my thin palms and my Weaver stance's front-to-back grip.

Thanks, Erich and thanks to whoever suggested looking
at Matt Burkett's shooting technique suggestions. That
was very helpful to us amateurs.

That was probably me with the tip about Matt Burkett's techniques.  Amazing what you can find just by following references fom shooters' forums like this one, magazine ads for products, etc.

As far as shooting technique, you have to find what works best for you and do that consistently.  I'm sure "handgun experts" watch Erich's support thumb between grip & strong thumb technique and rush over to tell him he's doing it all wrong!

I'm giving away my age, but I still can picture Stan Musial batting and Don Carter bowling "all wrong".  They're both in their respective Halls of Fame, but don't try to teach your kids or grandkids their techniques.  8)
