I'm a very happy camper

Ordered new mags from Rohrbaugh last week, assuming their springs were the stiffer ones in production, now. Took my R9s to the range this afternoon to see if the new mags made any difference to the feeding problems I had on earlier range trips with my pup. Man, did they ever.

I could only fire 24 rounds, four mags + worth, before the web of my hand started to sting and I was forced to stop. However, shooting Win Silvertips the pup ate every round without a single hiccup. Accuracy at 5 yards, a probable initial encounter distance, was remarkable for such a short barrel gun, with groups of two and three within 1-2 inches.

The pup was always obviously an extremely well engineered and made gun. Its fit and finish were very fine. Problems with feeding I had in the past I always attributed to something other than gun design. It's clear, at least for me, they can be blamed on the old, slacker magazine springs.

Now my faith in the pup has been justified. I can definitely carry my Rohrbaugh as my pocket backup pistol with full confidence that, loaded right, it'll be ready if I ever need it.

Good range report. Funny thing for me is I bought my R9s as a front pant pocket pistol and have religiously carried it on my hip ever since. It's so small, light and tight on my hip I have often forgotten I had it own and had to reach down to feel.

Won't it be great if the new mag springs solve most of the past reported feeding problems.At this point I don't yet concern myself with accuracy.Reliability was the issue with mine before the new springs.Once I'm confident that the pistol will go bang each time I pull the trigger,then I'll work on further refinement.
At the close range of most encounters I expect the technique to be simular to the new cameras,point and shoot.Silver tips or GDHP and a double tap is how I practice.
One other point on reliability ;the gun needs to be kept clean.I've taken to vacumming the lint & dog hair out of my pockets as well as taking the pistol down and relubeing every other week.

Sometimes I forget the gun's in my pocket at all, even in a Nemesis holster (waiting on my Hedley ).

For me, and maybe for you, too, when you have new mags/springs, reliability isn't an issue any more. As for accuracy, at the range I expect the gun would be used in an encounter the center of mass target might be tough to miss! At the range yesterday it wasn't tough to put aimed, slow fire rounds into center of mass at 5 yards. At 5 feet I'd suspect point and shoot under extreme fear would work just as well As for lint and dust, I keep my pup in a pocket holster and I haven't noticed any debris on the frame or in the action.
