Brand Spank'n new R9
« on: February 08, 2007, 11:09:43 PM »
Hello,   New member though I've lurked in the shadows a while now.  I must say that I've been lust'n over the Rorhbaugh R9/S for quite some time.  What a perfect ccw.  Sleek, compact and powerful what a package!  I was concerned at first over issues discussed in this forum and other periodicals about reliablity and parts failure but it looks as though it was isolated to earlier models.  Plus the majority of the positive responses far outweight the negitive, and even with the negitive, the Company seems to back it's product 100%.

Well I finally found an R9 at the same time I had some spare cash lay'n around, no great deal mind you but I HAD to have it.   I'm in total awe of the design and craftmanship involved in this little gun.  It's so thin and small for a 9!  I can't wait to shoot it.  I grabbed up 5 boxes of 115gr. Gold Dot to run through it and to keep it stoked with.   I had a Kahr PM9 that was my dedicated ccw and was very happy with it.  But I recently sold it away and used the proceeds from that and another gun to help get the Rohrbaugh.

This gun fits perfectly in my front pocket (wait... I've got ANOTHER front pocket ;))  Oh well, just chim'n in....  Great site....

Welcome to the Forum, and good luck with your new masterpiece.

HK P7 M8 -- everytime I read or hear that combination of letters and numbers, I start to salivate like one of Pavlov's  dogs.   :P  I don't need one, but I want one!  (So many guns, so little time . . . .)

Welcome again.

Congrats. It is an awesome pistol in every way. My 2 cents before ya head to the range (not that ya asked or anything). Buy another bullet to try as well. I like the Gold Dot bullet but cannot shoot it thru my R9S. The recoil is just too "snappy" for me. I tried several times to run some rounds thru the gun with them but just couldn't do it and therefore get comfortable it would digest them. At least you'll have another bullet to try if it feels the same to you. Have fun.

Thanks for the welcome guys,  and the advice on bringing different ammo to tryin my gun.  My thinking was to eliminate the guessing game of the magic bullet for the R9 and keep cost down.  And since the "brothers" recommend the GD's,  I figure that to be about the best ringing endorsment for a particular round.  I like the idea though and I might see If it likes the 124gn. pills too.

Richard S, for me the P7 was the holy grail of defensive handguns.....still don't need it.  But I got one.

No MP5 Tom.....but I had a SP89, had being the key word.

The P7M8 is one great handgun. I set out to get one and now have two " Chantilly's" and a BMI P7. So Richard be warned you can't get just one! ::) :o ;D There addictive!

My SP-89 will have to pull a Houdini to leave the lock box.

I have two P7M8s, one for shooting and one for collecting.  The collector one is that Jubilee one, with the fancy box and all.  I have been toying with the idea of having the other hard chromed, although it's existing finish is just a little purple.

What I would really love to have as an MP7 and some of it's ammo...  Not holding my breath though :(

Purple *slided* P7s have character, that out of the ordinary color distinguishes them from the pack 8)

Howdy HK - welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase of your Rohrbaugh.

I love HKs myself, have a factory hard chromed P7M13, blue M8, P9s (9mm) , 91, and the funky shorty flare pistol.

I used to have a SP89 as well.  Sold it back when they were going for only a $1000 because (at the time) I thought they had too much muzzle flip for a gun that size .  Boy do I feel like an idiot now.
