Hello everyone...new owner here

I recently purchased a new R9S, G-10 grips.  For ammo I have RBCD Platinum Plus 60 grain, total fragmenting soft point.  I have yet to shoot it, and probably won't until after my next test in two weeks.  For home defense, I have a Sig Sauer P226 .40 S&W, stainless steel, w/ Crimson Trace laser grips.  I wanted to say hi and I'm looking forward to hopefully making a few quality posts in the future.

Howdy Justin97 - welcome to the forum.   Congratulations on your R9.  I'm sure you will love yours as much as the members here love theirs.  Please be  sure to give us a range report and first impression after you break her in, will ya?
I'm not familiar with that particular ammo, it sounds like hot stuff (but not too hot).

Looks like you have your home defense situation covered well also.  Good pick.  Like the grips too.

Welcome to the campfire.  Let us know how your range session turns out with that new RBCD ammunition.  I don't recall anyone arround here having reported on its use through one of the R9s.  It appears to be "hot" alright.  According to what I recall about its characteristics, it's loaded to standard pressures.  Just make sure it's not +P or +P+.  As you know, that stuff is not recommended for the "pup."

R9 Info You Need..

I don't see +P or +P+ on the side of the box where the rest of the information about the ammo is, so I assume it isn't higher pressure.    I probably won't be too good on range information, since I don't plan on putting many rounds of this ammo fhrough the gun ($40 for a box of 25).  This ammo is what the guy at the store had in his personal Rohrbaugh, and I have read somewhere that RBCD ammo seems to do well in these guns.

I have two boxes of RBCD, one 50 gr. and the other is 60 gr.
The 50 gr. clocks at 2300 fps and 590 ftlbs while the 60 gr.
goes 2010 fps and 539 ftlbs. The seller told me that the 50
gr. was for shorter distance use with higher energy and 60 gr.
was for longer distances, although 2010 fps would not seem
tepid in most circles.
The ammo is at standard pressures but I haven't fired either
9 mm. RBCD type. I would also be interested in first
impressions.

A friend said that he had a quality control issue with RBCD
and the owner would not address the issue. After looking
at one of my boxes and seeing one round in the new box
with a half struck primer, I might have to agree with him.

It always seems to get back to the Gold Dots: no quality
issues there.

Thanks, I'll look through the box I have and see if I have any primers like that.  I'm going to try a magazine worth and see how I like them.  If I have feed/ejection issues or quality problems, I'll switch to the Gold Dots or Silvertips.  According to Maria (or Marie) at Rohrbaugh, Silvertips is what Mr. Rohrbaugh himself uses.

I enjoyed speaking with her.  She told me they were in the process of finding a new supplier for stronger recoil springs, so they don't have to be replaced every 100 rounds, and that a lot of problems w/ FTF/FTE were w/ limp wristing.  I'll probably still get the strong mag springs at some point, just to be on the safe side.

Before my serial number is the capital letter "R".  I haven't seen this on any picture of the gun I've ever seen.  Does the R just stand for Rohrbaugh?
