Welcome and congratulations!
Looking at one of my Glocks and the R9 side by side, stripped, one thing is obvious. If I knew nothing about the reputation of either pistol, I would have to believe the R9 was much more likely to live a long and prosperous life. The materials, fit and finish provide evidence of the silliness of any claims that the gun won't hold up.
Springs, of course, are expendable, as the little pup is shoehorning a powerful cartridge in a way small package. Other than that, the little gem is as rugged as can be manufactured.
Within the year I have carried it, every single day in a Nemesis in my cargo pants pocket, I have shot about 210 rounds and recently changed the spring. It is beginning to feel like it is working in, and the trigger has actually gotten a bit smoother, if that is possible.
I added a small strip of skateboard tape to the front and back of the grip which greatly improved the feel for my large hands.
I have complete confidence that when I need those 6 rounds, I will make them go bang to buy time for me to get to a rifle.
