Welcome to the forum JR15ID8!  Sounds like it's about time for field strip cleaning and spring replacement.  It's not that hard and does not take that long, especially if you use some of the tips here on the forum, like the 'faq" section.
If you have not done so, get yourself a takedown tool from yankee on the Classifieds.

JR, Welcome to the group.
  At 300 round you definitely want to replace the spring, although it may keep working your causing the gun to take an unnecessary pounding from a weakened recoil spring.

Thanks for the welcomes and advice I will be changing the main spring tomorow but there has to be a better way than using channellocks ???

The pliers are not necessary. I have done it several times now with no tools. Watch the video, and you will get it.

Ruger LCP. I too miss the CT laser. The LCP ate all ammo with no problem. I'm comfortable that my new R9S Covert will be reliable and certainly has more panache.

Nothing.  This is my first pocket pistol.  I will still carry my G27 in a sob/mob holster.  Or my Ed Brown 1911 in Milt Sparks VMII.

S&W 442, NAA 22 Mag, KT P3AT.

I still carry the 442 in jacket weather when I can put it in the jacket pocket and have the gun in my hand.

And I still carry the NAA as a bug to my Glock a bit.

Split between the S&W 642 and a Walther PPS. Before the PPS was a Kel-Tec PF9. Before that a K-T P11. Before that, a Walther PPK. Before that, a Colt Mustang. And before that, various Beretta pocket guns.
