Used Covert for sale $ 1,400.00
« on: November 05, 2011, 05:57:40 PM »
I picked this up new from Sportsman's Finest, the dealer listed in gun broker, for $1,680.00.  I have fired about 150 rounds through it.  I am meticulous with care and cleaning. There is some slight wear on the barrel, otherwise in beautiful condition.

I have all of the original packaging, including the shipping box, five extra springs, a right hand pocket holster and pocket mag pouch that I purchased from member “Z” and a right hand leather belt holster.

I am selling because I find that I still go towards my 38 for conceal carry and this guy has just been sitting around not getting any attention.

I know I am preaching to the quire, but here is what I found out in speaking directly with Rohrbaugh.

- Parts are hand selected and shipped to Wilson
- Wilson sand blasts parts
- Wilson tunes and polishes all internal parts
- Wilson coats all parts with Armor Tuff
- Reassembled by Wilson and sent to distributor

For references, I have purchased from Tom at The Irish Guard and a holster and mag pouch (included in the package) from “Z”

I have pictures of this posted somewhere here on the site.  These pictures show the wear on the barrel.  I cannot find my previous post, if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am asking $1,400.00 for the complete package plus $50.00 shipping from my FFL to yours.  Accepted payment is United States Postal Service money order, or Paypal.  I will ship as soon as payment is received or posted.

I will upload some new photos shortly.

Please PM me with any questions.

Will Sportsman's Finest or Wilsons not stand behind the finish loss on the barrel?
I would be interested but not if that loss is considered normal.

Didn't think to ask. I've always had wear on my pistols because I shoot them all.

Yes, I can understand wanting to shoot all of your pistols. I am the same way.
I just did not know if it was considered normal for the coating to wear off like that under use.

Ill ask the question. I know from past experience that coatings don't adhere well to stainess steel. From what I have seen, this is one of the few models they tried it on.

Thanks. Please let me know what you find out.
I am wondering if the Special Forces model that Rohrbough made had that problem also. Could be why they produced so few of them.
I am thinking it might be better to just take the coating off that part of the barrel but then you would lose the blackout look.

I think this is considered normal wear.  You can easily use black magic marker or black "blue" pen to cover the area if you wish.  the intent was mostly to have a blueprinted pistol with careful tolerances and a protective finish.  Mine has a little steel showing through on the barrel after about 100 rounds, but it doesn't bother me at all.  By the time that pistol is put in action, no prospective recipient of a 9 mm 124 gr. JHP is going to notice nor worry about a little silver showing on the top of the barrel.  This weapon isn't about beauty...it's ALL about function.  I'm not entirely convinced the extra cost of the Covert is worth it in comparison to the standard R9 or the stealth, but that opinion has nothing to do with the barrel wear.  JMO.
