Hahaha - boy Richard does that bring back memories!

My Maternal Grandmother had a ''Scottie'' - called IIRC "Brekkie" - which was in fact owned by my Mother's youngest sister - but all I recall is that the lil' fella was part of the household when we went to stay during my childhood.

Oh my that was - what? - more than 50 years ago - ouch!

And now, if you will permit a proud grandfather a bit of self-indulgence, here is a photograph of the master of that cantankerous puppy:

Richard, Great looking kiddo and puppy. What a team they will make. Someone needs to keep a tight rein on the two of them? ;D

Tom:

"Tight rein" is the right term.  Together, they're a handful.

It's good to be a conventional grandparent -- a lot of enjoyment without too much responsibility.  Joyce says, "It's a time for getting even with your children by spoiling theirs."   ;)

Oh my - wish I felt young enough to water ski again!!!

BTW Dave -

Just noticed our image burden on here - this thread - is up to near 5Mb - so could be a tad large for any dial ups - Brendon perhaps if he still suffers that.

Maybe time to kick off a fresh OMW thread??

Slightly annoying feature of this software is - it treats the whole thread as an entity when loading - and not just the current page - so whole image set gets called!

Dave:

We can't lose the thread.  Intone the benediction, close the camp meeting, and reconvene the congregation for a new revival.

There are at least three novels and four screenplays in these four Outside My Windows threads.

Another annoying "feature" is how the e-mail notification links bring you to the first page of the thread, every time, then you have to click all the way to pg13 to see the new post.  Any way to fix this?

Aggie - yes indeed the link from an email notification is always to start of thread - frustrating sometimes.  This software does not use a ''newpost'' trick like many.

I cheat sometimes and use ''history'' to return to late stage of a long thread and then refresh - or as sometimes happens if enough time has passed - it will auto refresh having sorta ''timed out''

One other thing i have long noticed is - if I have to do an edit - then when I save that the post does not often reflect the change - not until another viewing at a later time!

Oh well - we have to remember that Duane gives us this place and this software is I think a good one for the budget - and so  a case of bite the bullet (9mm of course :) )

Not complaining, I've had a little experience with other BBS software and in the configuration file, there is usually a setting that specifies how the link is created in the notification e-mail (e.g. link to the first post in the thread or the newest post in the thread).

BTW, it would probably save ya'll a good deal of bandwidth as well for multi-page threads.

Cyberposer - welcome and post often - many friends here.

TX - I have never used the email notification.  Threads tend to drift so I just log on and review what is going on.

Richard - beautiful girl - whose boat?

Chris and Guys - just last night I was thinking that Chris would be suggesting going on to Outside My Windows V soon.

If I have a chance this weekend I'll start it off.  Leave some nice posts and pictures for the first page.  Any ideas for a name?

The bandwidth deal Aggie is very much my point - thus right now an approx 5Mb image burden!

I cannot access as actual admin of course so do not know the settings available but it sure would be handy to have a ''new post'' deal with the email notifications - if in fact available.
