World War II Vets are leaving the field and we who are left behind are in danger of forgetting what they endured. This was the last year the Pearl Harbor vets gathered on site for the annual memorial ceremony. The world I grew up in was molded by that war, just as the world my Dad grew up in was molded by the First War. We've almost completely forgotten the horror of the 1914-18 War and we're in ever growing danger of forgetting those of the 1939-45 War. Germany's unified, Japan's cars dominate the market, most American kids don't know how WWII even started. They say each generation repeats the mistakes of the past. Let's hope that when my generation (the Baby Boomers) shuffles off the one we leave behind doesn't have to go through what my Dad did and his Dad before him.
