FS: High-Output Fenix LED Flashlights, $30 and up
« on: July 08, 2006, 01:00:26 AM »
Preamble: Since this is my first post, let me introduce myself. I am a flashlight enthusiast, and a newbie to firearms. Right now, as I live in NYC, I must remain only an interested observer in the land of firearms. Besides this, I am a representative of http://Fenix-Store.com, which offers low prices and free shipping to anywhere in the world. For me, it's not about trying to pigeonhole a flashlight into every possible use, but about trying to match the right flashlight to the right use, whether a Fenix or a Surefire or any other light.

A user of these forums informed me that people here may be interested in a low-cost, high output flashlight for daily and personal use. Fenix lights fit this niche perfectly, as there a Fenix for nearly every kind of need one might have for a day-to-day usage light outside of security and LEO applications (though I've met a few in said careers who do use Fenix lights).

I know that some people may not be familiar with the newer technology flashlights, and let me say, new technology flashlights are stunning. A Fenix L1P flashlight running on one alkaline AA has been shown to outperform a Maglite 2D. Fenix is not your grandfather's light.

Fenix flashlights start at $30, and even the lower-end models are stunners. They are, in my opinion, incredibly high quality, on par with other manufacturers many times the price. They are well built, and my old Fenix L1P has seen a lot of abuse over the past few months (constantly dropping it) and still works perfectly. I wouldn't be recommending these lights, affiliation or not, if they weren't good quality.

If you have any questions about the Fenix line of lights, feel free to email me or ask here. I will also try to provide what useful information I can about other lights as well during my stay on these forums.

I have arranged for a coupon for users of Rohrbaugh forums -- just use the coupon code "ROHRBAUGH5" for 5% off any purchase of $20 or more, and as always, free shipping to anywhere in the world.

If I am breaking any rules (I didn't see anything suggesting I might be) with this thread, please inform me and I will correct myself.

Sincerely,
Stephen

That is very nice of you to offer a 5% discount. Would have been even nicer if you came here a couple of weeks ago -- that's when I ordered the P1.  ;)

I ordered a P1 and received it last week. It's a great flashlight. I don't think I've ever seen one that bright considering the size.

I did find it strange that it did not come with a battery, especially since the photo on the web site shows it displayed with a battery. In the product description, I could not find a statement concerning the battery.

Fenix lights do not come from the manufacturer with batteries included, as they use common, inexpensive batteries. However, Amondotech.com and Batterystation.com both sell inexpensive good-quality lithium cells for $1/ea and $1.25/ea respectively. I have personally bought from both. Fenix-Store does carry lithium AA batteries with a shelf life of 10 years and better performance in extreme temperatures for your AA-based Fenix lights.

I bought two of the L1Ps, one for myself and then one for my wife. Seems to be great little flaslights! One of our fourm members first posted about them. Les

Carrot, I may be interested in a cr2 Ion, can you tell me a little more about this light?  I currently have a arcAAA, and a sf g2, how does this light compare to my current lights?

The CR2 Ion is a very different beast from the Arc-AAA and SF G2. For starters, both of the lights you have now have a beam with a focused spot that gradually diminishes to a soft spillbeam. The CR2 Ion is what we call a "flood," and it puts out light that is almost perfectly even and smooth, with a barely noticeable "spot." On low, the CR2 Ion is comparable to the Arc-AAA Standard (not premium) but with much longer runtimes and no angry blue center of the beam. The beam is very white, and I consider it perfect for reading or walking around in the dark at night. It is also quite usable for walking outdoors.

On high, the CR2 Ion is considerably brighter than the Arc-AAA Premium and reflectored Inova X1. The spot is smoother and I judge the beam to be a little bit brighter than the spill from the Surefire G2. It easily banishes darkness wherever I point it within medium range. It also lights up entire rooms. It is very bright and well designed. I consider it to be on par with Arc in terms of build quality, and the finish is beautiful. Unlike the G2 and Arc-AAA, it can stand on its tail, something I consider an important feature. It would make a very nice keychain light, although a little wide. It's about a millimeter and a half thicker in diameter than a CR123.

Received my "combo kits" L2p with an extra L1p body..

For a AA light it puts out plenty to see well, wide, not pinpoint, but very nice..

I have one in my pocket in the L1p configuration,we shall see how it holds up to the pocket company!! ;)

Overall very pleased with the product!!

Thanks..

Welcome to the Forum.

The Fenix lights were the subject of a previous thread which made believers of some of us:
