If it weren't for the U.S. Armed Forces there would be no United
States of America. Our  military is the backbone of the Constitution
and the young men and women who serve their country are the
marrow. This is a day to honor and respect all of their fallen
patriots who have gone before them.

Amen to that!!

My grandfather fought in WWI and my Dad fought in WWII.
Both are gone now...wish they were still here.

Let us remember them all today, along with the ones still with us who fought for us and the ones still fighting for us as I write this in my safe haven.

It is sad how so many people view today as just a three day weekend from work.

Here is to my father, Art Johnson who served in WW2 as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps and served in such places as Iwo Jima and the Solomon Islands.  He is gone now, but lived a good life after the war, though he was debilitated from it.

And to my neighbor Willie Walker who was like a grandfather to me.  He served in WW1 as a Petty Officer in the US Navy.

And to all the others who we honor on this day and every day we have freedom.

Kinda hate to even post this link below, but we're gonna give em hell for this one.  Please call or emai or write the hopital and help us put them out of business.  This is a shame to all those who laid down their lives so we could live free.  Warning: You'll want to be sitting down for this one.

My Grandfather was an Italian immigrant who move here only after he was taught english at the age of 13.  He lied about his age to join the army at the age of 15, became the company bugler and fought on the front lines in Europe.

He flew the American flag everyday and sometimes played taps for us before taking it down.

If he heard another immigrant say anything bad about America, he would tell them to, "go the h*@l back where they came from if they didn't like it, this is a free country and nothing is keeping you here"!!!

Maybe someone should tell that supervisor, an immigrant from Africa the same!!  You give me her contact info and I'll be glad to share my Grandfather's story with her.

My Grandfather lost one of his two sons in WWII, the other son is my dad who was fighting in of all places, Italy, when he found out about his younger brothers death.

Sorry to ramble on but now I feel better.
