Let's do a little thread drift here.

Picked up this mandolin a couple of weeks ago. Traded two other cheesey ones for it. This one was made back in the mid-80's. It's much better quality than the current ones made for Kentucky, which are now made in China. This one was made in Japan. I put new, lighter strings on it. I also got the arm rest and pickguard the other day. (I did not make these.) They are tiger maple. The arm rest makes a big difference in comfort of playing. I made the strap. Want to make a strap for it that incorporates both round and flat braiding. Will be learning how to do that over the next few months.

Anyways, I'm learning how to play the mandolin and am focusing on the bluegrass style. Being in Kentucky currently lends to a lot of that style. And for being an A-style mandolin, it has an exceptional amount of sound and is very loud in that respect.
Any other mando players here?
