Yep, a friend clued me in to that. It is DEFINITELY a pinfire of some sort.
The U and crown proofmarks on the cylinder and under the barrel indicate the gun was sold in Germany, which means it was likely of Belgian manufacture.
This is probably a 7mm. Some of these guns date back to the civil war era. A few were made as late as 1911. My best gusss from what I see on the internet has this one made in the 1870s to 1880s.
