My first Ronbo holster...back around 1969...I carried in my nut sack while working dope. It did good.

In those days....the man worked for a living...now he won't even talk to us?

Anything further on the neck holster question?

I would be interested in one myself for my R9.

Thanks

Chris,

I would really like to hear how you like the Ken Null shoulder holster for the R9!   How about a detailed review on your website?

I have looked at those shoulder holsters for a long time, but my reaction has always been "plastic?  no way!"  But over time, I've seen so many people with small revolvers (e.g. J-frames) and other small guns, that love them... that I've had to re-evaluate.

Here's my (tongue-in-cheek!!) test:  If James Bond had had access to an R9S, would he have used a Ken Null shoulder holster?   ;D

I'm beginning to think it might be worth a look.

What do you say?

Albert

I have a Ken Null SKR holster for a Colt Detective Special, which shares some of the advantages of the SMZ.

The upside-down positioning hides the gun very well, and provides for an exceptionally fast draw for both the strong hand and the weak hand, although the muzzle will cross your own abdomen for the weak hand draw.  I don't know if the SMZ provides the same weak-hand draw advantages.

The plastic is durable, thin, and not harmed by moisture.  It is a very good holster material.  It is softer than your gun's metal and will not scratch your gun.  The white color will not show through a white concealment garment.

The harness is the weak point.  I find that it applies too much pressure to the back of my neck.  I cut my harness off and replaced it with a modified figure-8 style harness.

Ken is good to deal with.

Doc,I talked to Ross last week.It will be  three weeks  before I get mine. They had to completely design a new carry system and prototype the holster for me.They have made me neck carries in the past but they were  production items.

I would drop Ross a line and order one.I am sure the production ones will be finished much sooner since the R& D work has already been completed. You won`t be dissapointed by the quality and performance of the Pale Horse leather.

I sent them a message shortly after posting my message here and got a reply that they had no intensions of making one. I wonder if they have changed their minds or just doing the one for you?

Albert - sorry late to the fray!

Indeed yes - this would be useful I think - main prob is time and I do stuff to and for the FAQ somewhat intermittently.  Busy right now on a major rework of a holster site.

I like the rig overall but agree it is not perhaps 100% total comfort - but then neither is my Bianchi X-15 which I can use for big stuff - always a part of a strap that is not quite right.

However - I did get over the ''plasticophobia'' enough to buy Ken's rig - and have used it just now and again.

Unlike many here - my R9 is very much BUG and occasional 1º - certainly not an EDC gun.

I will endevor to do a report before too long - good idea for sure :)

Hmmm....I am not sure.Maybe this was just such a PITA that they didn`t want to produce them.

I`ll post a review of it as soon as I receive it though.
