New Laser Coming

The ArmaLaser Company is designing a laser for the R9.

They said to me in an email that we should look for it in Spring 07.

Anybody think this (laser sight for an R9) is a good idea?

When would it be useful?  How would it compromise concealability?

I have yet to make up my mind on these - but Kevin of K&D is soon to stock these and also to make a rig for those - well, at least the KT, Kahr and Glock ones.

I am not sure I'd fit one to a small gun tho I have six sets of CT grips on larger guns!

I'd like I must say to evaluate one (open for testing Mess'rs Arma Laser LOL)

Here's one on a KT - and also Kevin's Pocket Defender to suit - - these pics will not stay live all that long due to some reshuffles due on K&D site.

Personally, I don't see a neww for a laser.  Sights do fine for me, even those on the R9s.

That's an intriguing rig and holster design.

I like the idea of a laser sight for use in low-light conditions, even on a small revolver or pistol, but I have to admit that I'm still somewhat leery about the sustained accuracy under recoil of laser designs which are simply bolted or screwed onto the gun and/or trigger guard rather than being fixed to a dedicated rail (e.g., Uni-Max), integrated into the grips (e.g., Crimson Trace), or installed as a replacement for the guide rod (e.g., LaserMax).  It will be interesting to see how this new design holds up under hard use.

Richard,

I think you raise good points.  It appears from the photos that some level of sustained accuracy could be provided by providing a design that hugs the dust cover and trigger guard very precisely and very closely.  I don't know if this product actually does that or not.

With tritium sights being out of the question for the Rohrbaugh, I am interested in a good low-light alternative.

I think Kevin is meeting a very important and otherwise unmet need in providing holsters for guns equipped with these lasers.

The Arma Laser for the Kel-Tec's, Kahr's, and Glock's are held next to and follow the molding of the gun's dust cover.  There is only a hairline of space.  In addition, the forward part of the trigger guard is fully encased within the housing of the laser.  I'll try and post some pics later showing this.

Thanks for the kind words about the holsters.  In addition to the pocket holsters, we make IWB and OWB holsters.  The pocket holsters are available direct from Arma Laser, and they generally have an in-stock inventory.  We are a dealer for the Arma Laser now.  If you order both the Arma Laser and a holster, you receive a 10% discount off regular price, and your wait time is reduced to 4 weeks.  8)
