Covert Carrier

New to forum and very interested in an R9.

Has anyone had any experience with the Covert Carry, seen on YouTube?

Looks like something which would allow great concealment, without the pocket bulge I have been concerned about. I only where suits and pocket carry with holster may not be realistic.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I think it does work pretty well.  In a suit, you may have an issue because the waistbands are not too sturdy.  Make sure you try it with a very good belt.

The Covert Carrier doesn't cover the trigger guard.  Not a real problem in my opinion with the R-9, but it would be inappropriate with some guns.  It also doesn't protect the finish of the gun.  That may or may not be an issue for you.

Pocket carry in a suit is not necessarily easy because of the "hang" or the suit and the light fabric -- but its worth a try.  If not, you could go with a good inside the waistband tuckable holster, or even a holster shirt.

Welcome to the forum.  You will get lots of advice here, I am willing to bet!

    Welcome to the group.
I can not offer any insight on suite carry because since I received my pup I haven't been to a Funeral or Wedding, and thats the only time I need a suite. ;D ;D

I was just looking at something called Smart Carry, at

This looks like a good option as well.

So, is pocket carry in suit pants unlikely to work? Could
you put in a few links for some of your suggestions?

I carried a KELTEC that way for years with no problems in jeans. KELTEC offers a factory product that was similar to the Covert Carry.

If you carry that way in a suite your pants may slide below the belt line. Most suite pants cannot support the extra weight.

After I purchased my first R9, I started to pocket carry exclusively and have not looked back since. I had Robert from Meco Holsters make me a custom halfback holster that works great in most pants.

It's a very bad idea to pocket carry without a holster.

Yep!  Sure do.  Now use a Meco Sharkskin.  Works very well.

Yes i do. I would not carry without one. I use a MECO pocket holster. Robert @ Meco Holsters will make you a standard holster from his web site, or he can custom make you one.

Just a follow up.

If i do end up owning an R9, I will most likely start with a Smart Carry.
