"Thread drift" is tolerated pretty well on this forum. The conversations usually get back on track -- more or less -- sooner or later.

Meanwhile . . . some more nuggets of R9 history -- according to my recollection and subject to correction: (1) The first 100 R9 serial numbers (1-100) were reserved for presentation purposes; (2) Numbering for those issued commercially began with 101; (3) Only 47 of the pistols were issued with serial numbers not bearing a letter prefix. I am the proud owner of the 32nd of those -- No. 132, photographs of which I am prone to post at the slightest provocation.
