Help, I can't "see" the front sights!

I know, in a small, close up, self defense pistol, you don't "really" need to see the sites, just use it as a point and click interface, but at the range it is a bit disconcerting not to be able to see the front sight to put holes in paper.  Perhaps the range was a bit dark, but whatever the reason, the front sight on my R9S just disappears into the dark on the target. Is there a satisfying, esthetically pleasing solution?

You might consider using a small art brush to apply a touch of dayglow paint (orange or green, according to your preference) to the back of the sight.  If you don't like the result, you can easily remove the paint.

I have dots of ''Bright Sights'' paint on both mine.  I have a pic too somewhere which I have posted before.  

Oh hang on - it's on the FAQ site - take a peek HERE.

The pic you see is very slightly tweaked so as to show the effct better but it ain't far from how mine look.  I happen to like the green rear and yellow front.

I apply this stuff with end of tooth pic as the paint is pretty thick - manage to get quite nice ''blobs'' - which then need to harden over a day or so.  Good to thoroughly degrease first.

I googled it and found the home company: http://www.brightsights.com/index.shtml

I bought one vial of green and an application kit from them directly. I'll report out when I get it.

And it arrived in today's mail. Not bad for priority mail, coast to coast.

I'll apply it over the weekend and snap photos. I'm not too keen on the 48-72 hour dry time. Guess I'll have to pull out the G26 for backup

Yep - don't rush the curing time - mine on both has still showed little or no sign of coming off.

Well, I've been tardy in replying with my experience.  Two Saturdays ago I applied the Green BrightSight.  I'm no artist and applying it proved that out.  I used the cleaner before apply, then I had to apply it several times and wipe it off before I was happy with the way it looked.  The paint is very thick and tends to mold rather than flow. How it goes on is how it stays, so I was getting some weird points and dimples before I finally got it to look the way I liked.

Then on to the drying time.  They recommend up to 72 hours. I waited that and yet another day.  The "paint" never seems to dry, but remained pliable.  But after waiting so long I decided to go ahead and start carrying it in my HedleyHolsters.com LE pocket holster.

Well... I just pulled it out to take a picture and notice that the front edge of the BrightSight paint was pulling away.  I took my thumb and gently brushed it and off it popped.  No more BrightSight.  Drats. :'(

I followed the directions with regards to cleaning and shaking the paint container, but alas it has failed to perform for me.

Ok, now do not laugh; what I have used successfully for years is *Nail Polish*.

Yup, and when the first coat is dry, I apply the second and when that's dry, I apply the clear. The result is a dot of your choice of lots-a colors :) and mine have resisted all kinds of solvents, etc... and if you want to take the stuff off, there's Nail Polish Remover.

When in doubt use the old nail polish!!! I have used it before on other guns.....what other guns!!!     Tom

One more crack about my nail polish and I'll smack you with my purse! ;D

I use any of the 'top' brands and the results are really good.

My fav color is white, but I have tried red, orange, yellow.

Don't forget to clean the area with the polish remover (or acetone) first and coat the final application with a generous amount of clear.
